My latest Spotify playlist is called 'Church of Noise'.
It's a sprawling 12+ hour mixture of some of my favourite shoegaze, dream pop, power pop, slowcore, post-punk & noise rock songs... I threw a few of my own in there too.
It is time for a new album suggestion. In the past summer, alternative rock/shoegaze band BLOOD PICK ME from Minato unveiled their debut album "UNNORMAL". According to reviewer Peter Dennis, this album resonates with the challenges of the current era but also has a timeless quality.
I have the godawful "somebody that I used to know song" in my head. I will probably spray my brain with some #Motown or #Reznor or #shoegaze to remedy the condition but I'm wondering, in a @RickiTarr kind of way, what is your go to song to cleanse your brain of stuff that's gotten stuck there?
For #MusicWomenWednesday -- Devan Theos is my all-time favorite female singer. And she also plays drums in Off Peak Arson (and her previous band Ten High). She splits singing duties with Matt Thornton (also in both bands). They're an incredible songwriting pair.
I've gone on about both bands on here before. "Vivid" is a nice kind of lighter shoegazey track. Sometimes Ten High/OPA go hard and heavy, but this one is more chill. Check it!
Slowdive has followed in the line of Mission Of Burma, Dinosaur Jr.,& Quicksand, in that their “reunion” records were just as good, if not better, than their previous classic works.
In the case of Slowdive, this was the first in 22 years, & is STELLAR.
The same can be said of their latest album as well, which I also recently posted, & am still taking in.

Discovered this KILLER local Arizona band the other day called Gemm- they kinda remind me of Hum or Catherine Wheel in that kinda 90s/early 2000s heavy, guitarry super melodic rock way. And the dude's voice is great. Are they shoegazey? Maybe. But not super slow. They're really worth a listen.
Yesterday I was watching a video about Iceland, with its mountains, snow and icebergs (who knows for how much time they will exist...). I has been there too one year ago and it was beautiful!
