Near me there are no cacti large enough that I can use them for textures. On a business trip to Berlin in March, I found a couple of hours to check the Botanical Garden and the desert glasshouse there had these amazing cacti. This is one of the images that came out of it.
Finally started opening the vinyl packages I've let pile up the last few months and was happy to have forgotten I had ordered last year's amazing debut album by Lebanese band #SANAM. The vinyl sounds absolutely excellent, and it's up as a combo deal with a cassette of a live show, released in a couple weeks!

Sometimes you run across something by accident on Bandcamp that's weird and wonderful. I'm fairly sure I was looking for another artist a couple days ago when this popped up, but I wishlisted it then because why not, and I just now had a full listen.
This is the 3 song EP 'Treasure Trove' by Baltimore's YOUR MOM from 2015. It only lasts a few minutes, but those few minutes are strange and beautiful, and now I'm curious to check out the rest of their back catalog.

Back in the late fall, Louka and I worked on a Photosynthesis session that had a good number of successful "leaf" images. These are probably my favourite leaf images since I started doing them. It's still a fraught process, with frequent failures as I struggle to balance the exposures of the leaf and the model. But I'll be back at it, now that it's the spring and there are leaves to work with again.

I didn't heavily promote this one, because a) it came hot on the heels of my premier 2023 release, Psychedelic Ghost Stories, and I was more keen to get the word out on that one, and b) because it's pretty out there and likely to alienate a fair number of listeners 😅

I have this jargon for Photosynthesis about the different types of images. This is what I call a "spine" where I shoot a plant with a strong central stem and then align that stem (as best I can) to the model's own spine. When they work they can be quite spectacular, but even a small shift ruins the effect. I'm really pleased with this one, the first in a long time that I find stunning (if I say so myself...)

Probablement l'une de mes artistes préférées, j'ai de nombreux albums, notamment tous ceux avec groupe SPUNK. Elle adore expérimenter avec de nombreux instruments comme sa voix par exemple, qu'elle a utilisé pour composer VOICES, entièrement composé de sa voix. Je l'ai vu en concert, pour cette composition sur pas loin de 50 minutes, juste sa voix et son sampler, un truc dément.
Sult est plus "classique" avec sa voix et essentiellement un accordéon. L'album est magique.

weird and wacky experimental electronica that can work in the background
bass heavy but low intensity music that tickles the brain
just really pretty and interesting ambient or drone stuff in general

I think these styles of music are amazing and rather underrated, especially since a lot of the people who like these styles are just playing random youtube mixes in the background, so they have no idea what they're actually listening to or who to support
I also find this kind of music annoyingly hard to discover, which isn't helped by those mixes either, because most of them are either drawing from the same small handful of artists, or just playing video game soundtracks
I want to change that, even if only a little bit. for that reason, please boost
