Databag is an open-source self-hosted messaging service with Android and iOS client apps
You host your own service, which can also federate with other Databag nodes. It is Public-Private key based identity (not bound to any blockchain or hosting domain) and End-to-End encrypted (the hosting admin cannot view sealed topics, default unsealed).
To the #calckey experts: what’s the expected time of arrival for version 14? I have spent 2 full days to get #selfhosted#Mastodon to accept my SMTP settings, with very little success … I am ready for trying something else ;). Is version 14 coming soon or should I go with the latest stable 13.x version? Want to avoid unnecessary update work… @fediversenews
Ha! Jellyfin running with full HW acceleration inside a LXC container in Proxmox, next to Home Assistant, the -arr suite, FreshRSS, Nextcloud and Immich! (And a Win 10 if needed, with GPU passthrough). Sipping just ~12W at fast enough speed. I love this setup and might maybe have two Rpi4 2GB units to sell ;)
Is there a #FOSS software for creating a wishlist e.g. for weddings or birthdays? Ideally it would be a simple #selfhosted or hosted webpage where the admin can add items they fancy and others can browse and reserve them.
Starting to work on a bugfix for #Castopod 's #fediverse integration. I'm trying to ease into making more contributions to #OpenSource and I'm learning so much!
Learned the basics of #Clojure for my last PR and now I'm learning some #PHP, and of course learning about #ActivityPub to figure out why certain changes aren't propagating to followers.
What a week! I found this awesome open source software that let's me connect and stream almost ANY camera to ANY Smart Home Hub. No more vendor lock! It's called Scrypted and it's awesome!
You may have seen the announcement that mastodon.social is now "upgrading to a nightly build". This means that it is regularly releasing the latest and greatest version.
And you may be wondering if this is unique, or something special that only Eugen can do? The answer is no, the same version is available for all instances to upgrade to as frequently as they want.
Lot's of improvements rolling out. Exciting times.
@mastodonmigration I may not go to nightly on my #selfhosted server only because… we’ll, I have a life and other things I like to do. But I definitely might see if I can create a weekly schedule for myself to incorporate the Sunday nightly builds or something. That’s plenty frequent for me. The only question I would have is how easy is it to roll back if something goes wrong?
I'll just stay put under the sky of my #selfhosted Fediverse, activitypub based server.
Took this photo at a Walmart parking lot in #AppalachianOhio on New Years Eve 2022 and decided to make it my instance image before all the viral stuff about #Bluesky started up.
With todo lists and that grid/column layout for displaying multiple notes. Needs Android and iOS clients. Preferably w. #selfhosting / #selfhosted server.
Already using Joplin - but need a simple post-it looking solution. Think shopping lists and reminders not full featured notes and zettelkasten.
I've been looking for a good self hosted Google Photos alternative. I think I found it! ImageStore!
It's a little rough around the edges but it's doing a fairly good job of letting me search for X and it's finding it. A few things turn up incorrect and there don't seem to be good tools yet to fix things. But over all fairly good.
In my search for a #Pinboard alternative I found #Linkding, and it looks almost exactly what I was looking for.
It's only semi-social (closed/friends-only), could need an option for public access, and various tweaks here and there – but it’s very hackable (#Django, #Python, #svelte, #SQLite)
I need some help trying to figure out what kind of attack is happening with my host. I have a single ubuntu server with some wordpress apps, bookstack, roundcube, and tautulli. I've noticed recently that a bunch of "index.php" files have been added to sites in "upload" folders, and that what appears to be system files for the web apps being modified.
