I said what I said about rap beef being foolish. These "fans" don't care about the rappers. At all.

"Fans" are nostalgic for old rap beef, like Biggie vs Tupac. They don't stop to think for one second, where is Biggie? Where is Tupac?

Now Chris Brown and Quavo are rapping about shooting each other. Chris Brown's aunt was previously kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint. Quavo is implying that he knows who did it, and can arrange similar things.

Is it still funny? Are you entertained yet?

train,

@mekkaokereke it is entertainment! So of course entertain me. I meant the men who are actually doing the talking. They are just talking. There is no indication that they will ever bring it to the level of violence! Drake and kdot ain't going to start shooting at each other at the next award show! Chris and quavo are calling each other pussy on a song

You can't control another man and his actions. Their crew are all living on his success! They need to make sure these artists live.

train,

@mekkaokereke pacs hardest line was, " I fucked your bitch you".. you know the rest! Breezy most memorable line was, " You got bodied by a singing ninja" these guys energy is not the same.

train,

@mekkaokereke fair enough! I'm learning and I'm not arguing! I think your points are valid. I'm just trying to convey that the energy surrounding the east coast west coast beef felt that this was probably not going to end well. The energy surrounding this sounds aggressive but doesn't feel like it's going to spill in any direction that would indicate violence. If it felt any other way that crossed entertainment, I would feel a type of way for sure.

I get it! Wars are started by less!

train,

@mekkaokereke it's hard to even tell what is sensationalized and what might have real implications! So I might be seeing real click baity shit in my algorithm that others, as it seems, like yourself have read more surrounding these guys. My point of view might be very ignorant because I heard 4 minutes of a song that sounds like 2 rich black men fighting over women and pride. Which I suppose most men across the board have fought over in the history of forever 😂.

train, to homelab

Aiight partnas!!! Do any of you run HA DHCP services? Do we even care that much? I've heard the, " I run DHCP from my router so if that's down we are fucked anyways.. explanation! Yes!, what about those who don't run in them on their routers. Y'all the real ones!! I kid I kid 🤣

train, to ipv6

Damn you just keep coming back up in the !! Can we make a ipv5.5432 or something that I can wrap my head around this shit easier! It's the adkjlfa;dljfklad:adlkjfal;dkfja:a;lkdjlfkjfjd:123:1233435:3434:22123233 that throws me off. Then here comes them network heads be like.. You dummy the fuck wrong with you that's easy as shit to see.. It's the 3rd semicolon from the back.. you ass hat.. ummm what! 😐

I just want a static ip gawd damit 🤣..

It kind of feels good to finally understand the process of setting up WireGuard on pfSense and on my Linux and FreeBSD servers.

It also feels good to start ripping out Tailscale from my network.

#HomeLab #Networking #WireGuard

train,

@qlp Everyone speaks super highly of tailscale. Why you moving away from it?

bitprophet, to NextDNS
@bitprophet@social.coop avatar

OK. I think I've got myself set up for + permanent access to all of my (most importantly, my custom search/proxy server):

  • account (will likely subscribe shortly!)
  • on all devices, set to auto-connect (and I'll just have to deal with the mild battery inefficiency from this 😵)
  • Tailscale DNS settings configured for NextDNS + ignore local DNS
  • Tailscale DNS further configured to send my private home subdomain to my router's Class C IP
train,

@bitprophet I have continued to bump up against NextDNS.. Was the mobile use case the reason why you went there instead of pi-hole adblocker type thing

train, to homelab

Yo you heads. I'm using raidz in 3 2tb hard drives that is primarily going to be used for media storage. What are all the options I need! Tell me where all the bodies are!.

First month of hosting my own mail server rather than paying 123-reg to do it done, and it's still running like a dream and has been relatively pain free. It's not the busiest mail server, but it's mine 🥰 #selfhosted

train,

@solarisfire what are you using to run your mailserver?

train, to homelab

I know I been a big bbbiaaatch about this but here is a question. In your storage... whatever ..would you take ..

  1. More bays to fill ya up with PB's of data... ( I know it sounds sus just go with it )
  2. Go Fast and Furious 43! 10 gig on dem hoes.

Some context. I have 10 gig available to me and realistically I don't need Petabytes of space...

@AngryAnt@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

Anyone know of a good way I can have some service set as an gateway which I can then toggle on/off - killing all traffic I route that way?

Yes, I am looking for an easier way of manually cutting teenager internet access.

train,

@AngryAnt sounds like you got a path forward but I had a similar problem and lucky enough that my AP had a schedule feature per ssid. So It would turn the ssid on at specific time and off at others. Worked amazingly! It didn't have a kill switch like it sounds like you need. Good luck! It's like we have a bunch of little hackers at home and we gotta play this game.

pieceofthepie, to selfhosted
@pieceofthepie@n8e.dev avatar

Spent most of my time this evening attempting to get a #Tailscale setup I'm happy with and have just failed miserably. :(

I can't use an exit node without routes for the various home network VLANs and I cant use routes without my home servers using the subnet routers for local traffic.

And that's not including the fact that everything now talks to the exit nodes DNS instead of the ones local to them - like my networks Adguard instances.

#SelfHosted #HomeLab

train,

@pieceofthepie why not just add all of your servers to tailscale? Just make sure they can physically route to each other and let tailscale do the heavy lifting.

train,

@pieceofthepie Oh the dockers!! Yea I did something similar but I don't use the dockers. I use lxc containers for pretty much everything I do. I installed a wiregaurd implementation pretty much everywhere and it has built in dns. So I just reference each other via the name and it knows how to get around. It's pretty slick. Yeah having one foot in and one foot out is no good.

train, to random

Bruh It's been a whole week of trying to get #openwrt right and I just finally got there.. It's highly flexible but I couldn't get in a rhythm with this thing. The documentation and finding answers is stupid or I'm stupid.. could be both. However, it saved me a couple hundred bucks by re-purposing old hardware I was trying to get rid of anyway.

train,

@CenturyAvocado I tried doing pbr in routing and it would not stick!! That was infuriating! I ended up installing a package that worked but some other small things didn't work about it. It's just doesn't feel like a polished router! It feels like a Linux box playing a router on TV!

train, to terraform

I struggled to pick #terraform to create the new networks. Not because of the bullshit they be pushing but, I needed to create a 3 new #lxd #networks and this would be the only time.. I hope I'll be doing this . I coded!

In good news because I spent so much time on the #wiregaurd #overlay #network. Moving my instances from one network to another was a breeze! what happen underneath didn't even register!

It work #homelab #selfhosting

schizanon, (edited ) to pfSense

I want to repurpose the minipc I'm using as a for my so I'm considering a instead.

But these new boards are pretty amazing and this is just $150 more! It's got dual 2.5GbE and 500gb of storage!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BZR6LKHD/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=A3OHI25ZCHSGMQ&psc=1

train,

@schizanon I'm eying that exact one to see if it's any good to run as a proxmox host and lower ( potentially ) the power footprint of my homelab!

WagesOf, to homelab

It's kind of cathartic to delete all of these spf and mx records and put my mostly unused #homelab domain to rest.

I guess I'll have an offsite backup at work on some (checks amazon wow that's big) 24tb archive drives.

train,

@WagesOf Why not put the #homelab domain in the game coach!

train,

@geerlingguy Now adays you might be finding people use k8 as a hypervisor.... I got a 8 gig container running my service!

Sir! thats a vm!

train, to random

I been going through it at work with a re-org and a boss that I don't particularly see eye to eye with. Anyways, I was like ok let's try my luck out there ( I know it's rough). Got a rejection almost immediatly and now I remember why looking for a new gig fucking sucks! 😂

train,

...and resumes is a fucking art man! I think a majority came from me being rusty as shit at updating and writing them.

train, to homelab

If you could change/update/re-design one part of your #homelab.. or maybe all! What would you do? I'm looking to revamp a little and was wondering if I don't know, what I don't know, you know.

#homelab #selfhosted #selfhosting

train,

@daniel I could never get into nix.. I mean, I have not really tried that hard, but the learning curve seems a bit sharp to learn one more thing! I keep hearing the one config to create all the things argument.. I don't rebuild my environments... to come to think of it, never. So it's hard to see where I set up nix once and then never touch it again.. Maybe i'm just don't see it for a #homelab. I have a NAS already but not a data hoarder. I delete as much as possible.
