Follow up: Rented speakers from local AV shop. Told the venue to take back their sound bar.
Then a few minutes ago, I walked by an open door near the banquet room - full of gear. Speakers, wireless mics, mixers. Exactly what I was told they had in planning emails. I’d say the employee helping us set up didn’t know that existed, except the sound bar was sitting right there.
I’m so annoyed. All worked out fine in the end but the frustration and running around to make it happen was a pain!
My last day at work has been scheduled. In just 3 shifts, my 25 year career in #proAudio comes to a screeching halt while I enter the terrifying world of #disabilityInsurance.
All this because I caught #covid19, once, at work, in June 2022, despite having 4 vaccines.
The first 12 weeks were bad. Then I got a little worse each week. My weight tanked. I am 6' 3 and was a little over 200lbs (my normal weight). A year and a half later, I presently weigh 145 and dropping.
I was diagnosed with #meCFS, #PEM, #POTS, and am still having tests (CT, gastroscopy, biopsy) done on my GI.
#LongCovid is very real, and has robbed me of the luxury of clear though, easy movement, and a "normal" life.
Don't get Covid. Don't get Covid again. #WearAMask, please.
@shawnhooper me too doing back stage work since junior high school. Even did a few years part-time stage carpenter at the National Arts Centre in IATSE.
@Jyoti I want to know why MIDI timing has got worse since the Atari days. Alright I know why, it's usb and all that, and I have one of those Expert Sleepers boxes to sort it, but what a hack. It's just one of those things reviews of gear never mention.
OK, it's not open source, and it doesn't have anything to do with maps, but bear with me for a second if you're into music or audio production as well:
Studio One is coming to Linux;
Bitwig Studio and Studio One have developed a interoperable format, allowing to pass projects from one to another.
Pretty good news for the #linuxAudio world, if you ask me.
If any of you are looking for a pro-level #MIDIInterface for a studio with a crapload of gear, I can recommend the #MioXL from #iConnectivity
The install was painless, the MacOS app is friendly but still powerful and my timing tests with it inline sounded the same as plain old MIDI DIN.
Obviously, it's not gonna be as tight as the old pre-Apple #Emagic#AMT interfaces but seeing the afterthought that #MIDI has become in this ITB world, the MioXL is brilliant!
