Dug out my #piStomp Core #RaspberryPi-based guitar #effects pedal. This thing is super flexible and powerful--and fun. Unfortunately, my soldering was a little iffy and I need to do some rework before it's stable enough for live use. Meanwhile, it's fun to mess with and customize the sounds. This is meant to be an #AiC sort of sound.
I'm a guy who likes his #guitar#effects. Pedals, rack effects, vocoder. However, I was looking at a pedal switcher (G3) and omigod who needs that sort of infinite capacity? I mean, I'm pretty sure you need to get a masters degree just to competently work the damned thing. It's like that with so many of my pedals, though. I know they are underutilized. That's a lot of money down the shitter over the years. On the other hand...toys....

I want to do post processing in 3d with Visual Shaders. Screen texture of opaques only is easy, but with transparents I need a viewport, I think, right ? It worked also for a bit, but than it threw some errors (recursive usage?) and turnt grey. The docs also mention backbuffer copies... Anybody with more experience or a tutorial?
Speaking of the Ensoniq VFX-SD, it was advertised as the “First Music Production Synthesizer”. They must have meant within the Ensoniq family of synthesizers, because this came out in 1989, and before it, there is at least one that precedes it, in 1988. See reply to learn what it is.

I all but gave up on #guitar#effects#pedals when the loud gigs dried up. Put my skuzzy pedal board and cabs in the attic. Knowing they all needed TLC, soldering, Lysol, and/or Deoxit kept me away for years.
Got pretty good at the just-a-tube-combo thing. Learned headroom, playing lightly, and constant pot adjusting is the gain secret.
Anyway - got 'em all out today, did some light rewiring, cleaned them up, etc., and OMG NOW I REMEMBER WHY THEY'RE AWESOME. Hide my wallet.

It is a basic #OCaml scheduler with #effects. We are aware that this is an area that is under pressure from other competitors, but we believe that there is always room for a less opinionated and simpler vision about how to schedule tasks.
I noted in another thread that I suspected #Meta / #Facebook would be trying to #bribe#fediverse instances into federating with them, at least at first, until #network#effects could kick in.
For those #admins who have actually been on the receiving end of Meta's inquiries, can you say whether they offered or implied any sort of #payment or other #compensation?
