There is no indication that the article contained errors or otherwise incorrect information, and the editor’s note states “Reuters stands by its reporting and plans to appeal the decision.” The report, written by Raphael Satter, Zeba Siddiqui, and Chris Bing, was based on a massive cache of documents including emails, financial records, photos, messages, and presentations from inside Appin, a cybersecurity startup-turned hacker-for-hire shop, as well as law enforcement files from multiple continents and interviews with hundreds of people, according to the investigation. It gave unprecedented insight into what the inner workings of an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT)—cybersecurity parlance for a sophisticated hacking outfit—looked like."

Three Palestinian journalists were killed by Israeli airstrikes after Israel resumed its bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Friday, December 1. According to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, 67 journalists and media workers have been killed since October 7. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has reported the killing of 54 Palestinian, 4 Israeli, and 3 Lebanese journalists. Nearly all of the journalists were killed by Israel.

On 3 October 2023, the home of veteran Indian journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta was raided by the Delhi police force. Similar raids occurred that morning on the homes of over 80 people, most of them associated with NewsClick, an independent news platform that publishes stories that question the policies of the Modi government and the Adani Group. Here, Paranjoy gives a personal account of his experience in what has become one of India’s most notorious attacks on freedom of the press.

Despite his promises, it is not clear whether Milei would be able to privatise Argentina’s public media, because doing so would require changing the law that governs them, explained Agus Lecchi, secretary general of the SiPreBA journalists’ union, who works for Argentina’s Televisión Pública. That means it would have to pass through Argentina’s congress. Milei’s Freedom Advances coalition will not have a majority in either the deputies or the senate.
Nonetheless, Argentina’s public media have come under fire from hostile governments before: in 2018, right-wing President Mauricio Macri’s administration attempted to lay off 68 journalists at the state news agency, Télam, although all were reincorporated after a labour court found their dismissals to be illegal."
