“The #DOJ issued a withering critique of #Minneapolis #police, alleging that they systematically discriminated against racial minorities, often violated #ConstitutionalRights and disregarded the #safety of people in custody.

“Police ‘used dangerous techniques and weapons against people who committed at most a petty offense and sometimes no offense at all,’ the report said. Officers ‘used force to punish people who made officers angry or criticized the police.’”

Today in Labor History June 16, 1836: The London Working Men's Association was formed, launching the Chartist movement. The Chartists took their name from the People's Charter, which demanded universal suffrage for men, regardless of social class. The movement appealed to skilled workers, not the masses of unskilled laborers. They followed the utopian socialism of Robert Owen. The movement lasted from 1838 to 1857. America’s first cop, Allan Pinkerton, creator of the Secret Service & persecutor of the Molly Maguires, was a radical participant in the Chartist movement before becoming the bulldog of capitalists. While the Chartism was primarily a constitutional movement, there was a radical, insurrectionary wing. Pinkerton was a part of this wing. He fought cops, destroyed property and set fires.

You can read my biography of him, “The Eye That Never Sleeps,” here: https://marshalllawwriter.com/the-eye-that-never-sleeps/

It is well known that the admission criteria for the police in Germany are very high. For example, there is an IQ test with very strict limits. What is less known, the limit applies upwards.

A 58-year-old white woman antagonized the black children who lived next door. She frequently called them vile names. She threw a pair of skates at them, hitting one of them.

The kids, ages 9 and 12, walked up to her door with their mother and knocked on the door. The white woman then shot the black mother through the closed door, killing her.

It took days of protest for #police to even arrest her. I'm glad they finally did

Both Tyree Nichols & Breonna Taylor were born 30 years ago today—-June 5, 1993.

They were real life human beings who led vibrant lives and, like all of us, had families and friends who adored them.

This is a reminder of how much we’ve lost. When police officers abuse their power and engage in violent behavior, it undermines ALL of society because the principles of justice, fairness, and equality are fundamental to democratic society.

#News #Blm #History

@Deglassco the United States has become the #GunCapital of the world; and it use to be we had to worry about just criminals, crazies, and people who were the #2ndAmendment Crackers; but now in the hands of said #PeaceOfficersoftheLaw they’re in some cases the problem. A gun should be used in all situations as a last resort, tasers and non lethal weapons must become the norm for all #Police and psychological testing must be an ongoing part of the process too. #GunsAreFinality😔😢

A #Chicago cop got out of 44 tickets by saying over and over that his girlfriend stole his car.

And it worked.

All 44 times, his tickets were dismissed.

At hearings, Jeffrey Kriv often provided what he said were legitimate #police incident reports as evidence of the car thefts. He explained that he got the reports at police HQ.

Kriv did not let on that he, himself, was a cop.

“Over-policing Black and brown communities is what leads to police brutality, it’s what ends lives, it’s what destroys families. We can’t talk about police brutality without discussing the role over-policing plays. It doesn’t mean anything that you protested the police who killed George Floyd if you too would’ve made the 911 call that put the police on his neck.” —Olayemi Olurin
