This is the first piece I created in my Labor Of Love Series Circa 2005. I hand painted each shape and then used a black paint pen to outline each piece. Very time consuming! But these paintings live on. I still love to use them to create new art!

I patched some ripped jeans with silk and cotton. The silk is an unfinished piece of woven jacquard tie fabric, and the cotton is a very strong thread called Wonderfil Spagetti, 12 weight. Hitomezashi sashiko ('one-stitch sashiko') is a form of sashiko embroidery that uses sets of parallel lines (2 perpendicular sets here) that are stitched with basic running stitch. I used the pattern woven into the fabric to define the sewing grid. Good as new! #pattern#sewing#mathart#visiblemending
