@jeremy Funny, our colleague Jacky Volpès blew my mind yesterday with an expression-based :qgis: atlas layout, Jedi level ! It iterates over communes, and for each, shows up to 6 different mini-maps zoomed on specific areas. A blog article on this planned to land on @oslandia soon hopefully.
Also, thank you to Biotope and Agence de l'Eau Adour Garonne for funding the initial Atlas plugin years ago and its port to core, which later became one of the most powerful :qgis: feature. #OpenSource#Maps
You know that internal #Google memo leaked last week about open #LLMs, here's an example of one of its points. Lots of things happening in the open source #AI model space. I'm seeing something new every day.
I really enjoyed offering UX Coaching to an #OpenSource maintainer last week. We covered a lot in 30 minutes and they'll be sending me a UX work proposal I'll review.
If any #FOSS maintainer wants a free UX consultation to:
help write an UX onboarding brief - Discuss how best to use a UX Designer
Bitch about UX designers (really...)
I'm happy to help. Just DM me and we can setup a time. I strongly feel we can get more UX in #FOSS, it just takes a little bridge building.
Today we just wanted to share an internal clip that showcases what’s coming next, Grid Layout!
It’s still in a very early stage, we need to go through a lot of polishing, testing, user testing, more polishing… but it’s a nice little gorgeous clip to watch!
#Terraso is an open source tool for integrated landscape management. In our first two years we focused on data and mapping, focusing on making a story-mapping experience that everyone can access.
Today a bunch of Kenyan landscape members created storymaps and landscapes. I'm tired but so, so, excited about what's coming next.
Check out a story map about a Mangroves project in Kenya:
During the talks at @rustnl 2023 it was mentioned that one of the projects relies on Ploutos for packaging. Ploutos is a GitHub reusable workflow for packaging #Rust Cargo projects as DEB & RPM packages and Docker images. It’s an #OpenSource project maintained by @nlnetlabs. 🎁 #rustlanghttps://github.com/NLnetLabs/ploutos
@whynothugo@rustnl We specifically designed Ploutos for our use case, relying on the GitHub ecosystem. Ploutos could be made to work with other platforms, but we don't have any experience with these. We're happy to accept contributions for this though! #OpenSource
Something that continues to annoy me about some ongoing conversations I've seen on here: people trying to apply the logic of consumerism to the #FediVerse, and #OpenSource (the latter is an old, old issue)
These are participatory and community-driven spaces. Approaching them with the mindset of consumerism is off-putting, especially to those of us who have been here for a long time.
The next Podman Community Cabal Meeting is happening a week from now, on Thur, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 am EDT (UTC-5). We'll be talking containers, splitting storage layers, and more! Agenda with video link: https://hackmd.io/gQCfskDuRLm7iOsWgH2yrg#opensource
