Of all the days for me to not be carrying the good camera, this greets me on the way back from my hike. Did what I could with the phone, but the light was already pretty far gone.
As I suspected, the volume of fish was down significantly this week at the Agawam herring run, and while there were a few Osprey fly-overs, no one came in to fish.
Which gave this hungry Great Blue Heron an opening. He wolfed down three good-sized herring in about a 5 minute period before flying off.
This guy (gal?) was just parked off Gooseberry in the sun, head above water, looking around for the entire time I had him in view as I hiked, a solid 15 minutes.
Spotted a Fisher cat on the side of Little River Road in Dartmouth late this afternoon. It was favoring one of its front feet (the one it has weight on in this photo), but didn't look obviously injured otherwise. I waited for it to move off the road before proceeding.
Cooper's Hawk at Mass Audubon Allens Pond, right near the parking area. Spooked right as I started to move the camera. I moved behind the small amount of cover that was there, and saw the bird move in a bit closer, but it still wouldn't return to the kill while I was there. Got a shot by using my car as a blind.
