#YANGON : Almost 50,000 people have been #displaced by fighting in northern #Myanmar after an alliance of ethnic armed groups launched an offensive against the military two weeks ago, the UN said Friday.

Fighting has raged for two weeks across northern #ShanState near the Chinese border, in what analysts say poses the biggest military challenge to the #junta since it seized power in 2021.

The World Has Stopped Listening: Rohingya Plight Continues (www.eurasiareview.com)

The Rohingya community living in the Cox’s Bazar camps seems to have been trapped in Satan’s trifecta. With dwindling funds and increasing violence in the camps, their camp life has become a living hell; on the other side of the borders, in Myanmar, there seems to be no hope of returning as the country is fighting its...

After four days of intense battles with the military in northern Myanmar’s Sagaing region, armed resistance groups have occupied the city of Kawlin, but residents and aid workers say the fighting has displaced 50,000 people, stoking fears of...

While the world’s eye has shifted from #Ukraine to #Israel and #Palestine, a gentle reminder that the civil war in #Myanmar (or #Burma) continues to simmer. This video (from 2 days ago) shows members of the Burmese army fleeing to my state in #India, #Mizoram after being chased by members of the PDF. That river is the one I posted some months ago. Locals say that #China has changed its strategy from supporting the ruling Junta to the People’s Defense Armed Forces (PDF). #NoAgendaPost but informative, so sharing - with @mastodonindians too. If true, China’s strategy to support the PDF instead of the ruling Junta could mean a lot for #India - strategically and economically.

Not graphic or gore so I’m leaving out the CW.
