Okay, you probably know by now that when someone is my favourite, there's no escaping my portraits. So have another Maedhros - this time as a baby with his mum (and yep, I'm on a mission to revise old works!)

I hope you like it, and sorry for my one-track mind 🙈

Cropped version of the previous image, focusing on both faces.

Did you know that the length of #breastfeeding rapidly changed in the late 16th c.?

For a very long time, the average length of breastfeeding was somewhere between 2-3 years.

It has been known that weaning age decreased - but it was thought to be a #Victorian practice.

In 2018, bone analyses revealed that it was the late 16th c. that brought this #change however & in a very short time.

Wet nursing too became less common at that time.

The reasons for both are unknown.

Line goes up in countries where conditions are worse for women’s health and rights.

“Every year, at least 40 million women are likely to experience a long-term health problem caused by #childbirth, according to a new study published today in The Lancet Global Health.”

"121 out of 185 countries have failed to significantly progress in reducing maternal deaths over the past two decades”

As the Women's Budget Group point out: of in a issue.

Men have on average £92,762 more in total wealth than women, a gap of 35%.

Among 25 to 34, the average gender wealth gap is negligible. Within the ages of 35 to 44, it is 28%. After age 45, the average gender wealth gap starts growing significantly. By age 64, the average gender wealth gap is 42%.

A clear implication is to confirm that it is that marks the wealth divergence

"So it made sense that the perfect storm of shame, defectiveness, and poor body image would converge around a rite of passage as momentous as becoming a mother—the ultimate test of womanhood. I had spent my life assimilating, performing a kind of whiteface; having a child would certainly unmask my racial shame."

Why is mum-shaming still a thing in 2023? Is it because society still won’t let women fully express themselves?
‘Bad mother’ behaviour seems to include anything that even hints at maternal ambivalence or a desire for more freedom
It’s hard enough being a working mother of young children, especially one in the process of getting divorced, without being smeared in the press as a bad mum.

When I became a mother, I lost my body – and realized it never belonged to me

'The lack of autonomy I felt as a mother reiterated everything society taught me to believe about myself since I was a girl'

I feel that all men ought to read this. And maybe very young women. Older women know about it all too well.
