Minimal. Mono. Square.
No. 15: Attention to Detail.
Somewhere belowdecks of a massively heavy ship, holes are cut into the structural members of a bulkhead to save weight. It must have been laborious to cut all of these holes (there are probably tens of thousands of them) but I guess sometimes you have to press every bit of advantage you can.
As I write this, I reflect on the fact that life is like this sometimes too. But it's not a particularly healthy way to live, either, especially over a long period of time.
(Edit: I decided to change the title to this series. I was originally thinking along the lines of "big things that are essentially invisible in the background clutter of life but are also pretty indispensable" but all the photos I have so far are of transmission structures, and there's a lot more indispensable stuff out there than that. In other words, it's a broad topic and these alone wouldn't do it justice.)
Because i set my #gentoo pc to be #wayland only without X. . . i felt need to have strong alternative to word processor.
Now i think #minimal environment can be really useful. Not having access to libreoffice forces me to find decent replacement for everyday life doc writing.
Ofc. i could go easy way and install word processor on old laptop ... but that means no real gain... without need, or any other motivation it's hard to learn anything.
#Security#Nerds and #Experts of #Mastodon, I have a #Question for you.
.
.
I am attempting to de-#Google my digital life (as much as is possible at the moment). I got myself an #Android#MobilePhone that does not have Google services installed on it, and I am using #FDroid, #AuroraStore, #APKPure, etc. to get the apps, and using the #AppBrain#AdDetector and #DuckDuckGo's #App#Tracking#Protection (#Beta built into their mobile browser).
.
I am doing my best to use #minimal apps, and only getting ones that are not security focused when necessary. I am not logging into Google, or any other #BigSocial/ #BigData services except when necessary.
.
My question is, are there any #SMS / #Texting apps that allow you to login on the #Web and #sync messages to your phone (even if only on the same network), and a #keyboard that has #VoiceToText that does not use Google or #Microsoft? I am currently using #SwiftKey, but only until I figure out the #T9 app I am using with the KB (HYBRID phone running Android 11).

Not quite the cliché.
I tend to be a stickler for level horizons. If there is a significant horizontal or vertical line in an image, my eye wants it perfectly (not close, perfectly) parallel to a frame edge. Unless, of course, I don't want anything level or plumb, and then it has to be extreme Dutch angle. So here you are: Diagonal City.
The goal of this image was to frame the insulator strings between structural members and have no major line in the image parallel to a frame edge. And also: avoid the perfectly squared and symmetrical straight-up shot that is so popular. (I did succumb and get the cliché shot--I'm saving it for last.)
