It seems I have neglected my #asstodon duties for far too long… time to make up for it!
Here are a couple of shots of our lovely mule Esmeralda ("Esme") and our no less lovely donkey Corazon Espinado ("Nado" for short) letting off steam in the riding hall.
Both Esme and Nado were rescued from the transport to the slaughterhouse at literally the last second. That was 12 years ago. They've been leading a happy life at the sanctuary ever since.

After letting the horses out on the pasture this morning, they were jumping and running and kicking and farting while Kwiatek just stood there, watching them do their thing.
Happy birthday Chester. And congrats to Mom Ella. Ella snuck the birth in between our checks of the camera. He is looking healthy and is very curious to explore the world.
The blue ball is solid plastic and too big for a donkey to pick up. The tire is heavy but gets moved around frequently. Did they (probably Chester) drop the tire over the ball? Or push the ball into the tire? They love to leave me puzzles. #mastodonk
Here’s what the stall looks like first thing in the morning. Feeders moved all over, ball brought in from outside, there was lots of donkey partying overnight. #mastodonk
What an evening 😩
Kwiatek laid down next to me and I PANICKED because that’s extremely unusual. I was so sure he was having a colic and checked his vitals, bowel noises and signs of pain but everything was completely normal. I brought him a snack and he got up quickly and ran after it.
Donkey, I’m so happy that you decided that it’s safe enough to sleep next to me but you need to let me know beforehand when you decide stuff like this!
