I see posts calling for folks to write/email/call/smoke signal/wire/semaphore their representatives about the security fuckery of Windows Recall.

I'm more of an "act locally" guy. Email your place of employment's heads of legal and IT stating your concerns, and send them this article. Hell, throw in your local schoolboards and universities to boot.

Bonkers how you can't 3 finger tap an item/link to open it in a new tab on like you could on (and , probably). forums I was looking into this on all starts with a simple, civilised question and quickly drags into a messy garbage of Apple extremists saying you're stupid for wanting that simple way of opening stuffs in a new tab when you can just either 1) Cmd + Click, 2) 2 finger tap + Open new tab, or 3) Get a mouse - as if those are the same things, when the answer should've been really, "you couldn't".

OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!! The next Cork release will be fucking EPIC

(Cork now supports packages that require sudo during install/uninstall)

A demo showing new support for packages requiring sudo in Cork

I tried it with the Zulu JDK and it seems to work fine for it as well!

ICYMI, I launched ,,Done’’ yesterday, a minimal #macOS menu bar app dedicated to tracking your completed tasks. Unlike traditional to-do apps, Done focuses on what you’ve already achieved, helping you keep a clear record of your accomplishments.

It’s on Product Hunt today. if you happen to hang out at such places, I’d really love your upvote! 😇

It will be valid from tomorrow, June 1st, until June 8th 😊

I just posted a sample project to GitHub which has the code I wrote for the Brushed Metal background in QuickTunes.

It seems performant but I am probably not the best in determining if it is at its most performant. Seems good though.

This is done in Core Animation layers & good for both 1x and 2x displays.

I hope to see more Brushed Metal interfaces soon 😉

We appear to be wasting more and more time fighting scammers and spammers. Today is the endless “Reset Your Apple ID” scam. It’s mentally debilitating and they know it https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/03/mfa-fatigue-attack-targets-iphone-owners-with-endless-password-reset-prompts/

This is for anyone experienced with #SwiftUI in #macOS development.

I used MenuBarExtra to make a small status bar utility app. I wanted to add an onboarding view, and I've tried everything.

I can use a WindowGroup to have a window and a MenuBarExtra, but that would display an empty window even if you hide the onboarding view after it's done.

Any thoughts? Ideas? or do I have to abandon SwiftUI 🫠

Tip of the day: If an application has translated its interface into another language, you can choose the language in which it is used. #DEVONthink is, e.g., available in English, French, and German. Here is, how you can easily change an app’s language on the Mac. #localization #macos #pkm #productivity #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20231121-change-app-language

Any #Shortcuts action dictates the name of its return value. For example, "Ask For Input" has a return value that is named "Provided Input”; if you use more than one instance of any action in your workflow, then all their return values will be named the same, which can be pretty confusing.

So I've made a quick video about how to rename those result values in your #macOS/ #iOS Shortcuts workflows:

WezTerm https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/ surpasse tous les terminaux que j'ai pu tester jusqu'ici. Je suis passé de à (pour la fame et rust) puis à dernièrement pour le support des ligatures. Kitty était pénible pour plein de choses (assez lent pour certains trucs, un ssh mal géré, écrit en python, etc)
WezTerm est génial : support des ligatures, des images, rapide, configurable, doc top et compatible et même !

My top wishes for are

: New system settings’ design with an adjustable window size!

: Multi user support!

: Background downloads!

: New App switcher that comes up from the bottom via double swipe.
Lossless audio support.

What are yours? 🙂
