#POTUS Joe Biden said on Fri the US will impose costs for Russia's "appalling attempts" to use Americans as bargaining chips in a stmnt to mark the 1-yr anniversary of WSJ reporter Gershkovich's arrest in Russia.
Gershkovich, 32, was the 1st US #journalist arrested on spying charges in Russia since the #ColdWar when he was detained by the #FSB on Mar 29 last yr.
"As I have told Evan's parents, I will never give up hope either. We will continue working every day to secure his release," #Biden said in a stmnt…that called the #journalist's detention "wholly #unjust & #illegal."
"We will continue to denounce & impose costs for #Russia's appalling attempts to use Americans as bargaining chips," Biden added.
The Kremlin said on Thurs complete silence was needed when it came to discussions about possible prisoner exchanges involving #EvanGershkovich.
Reporters Without Borders raises concern over the disappearance of Palestinian #journalist Bayan Abusultan, who was last seen on 19/3 among those sequestered in the Israeli raid on al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza.
The last tweet Bayan posted was witnessing the killing of her brother by Israeli forces in front of her eyes.

There is, today, right now, a very effective #vaccine for #chickens against avian flu. It's been used for many years in Mexico and China and a few other places, to great effect.

Mark Rasch, Burke’s lawyer & an ex-federal prosecutor who pursued cases for the #DOJ’s #fraud unit, has maintained that the #FoxNews clips were obtained legally, & that Burke is a #journalist whose activities are protected by the #FirstAmendment.
Last May, Burke’s home in Tampa, FL, was raided by the FBI as part of the investigation into how unaired clips of Fox News’ #TuckerCarlson Tonight were leaked to Vice & liberal watchdog MediaMatters.
@RobJLow In my career as a science #journalist with an arts background, I quickly learned that there are all sorts of words and terms that have different intents or meanings than they do in casual, non-science conversations. To write for readers with non-science backgrounds takes a lot of translation so meanings aren't misinterpreted.
But you're right about the misuse of terms by bad actors as well as people who just don't know any better..
