Kristall is a small browser for the small web, namely for the #gopher#gemini and #finger protocols. But it supports a subset of HTML too and that's what we're testing out.
It completely ignores our CSS as expected, but the result is completely readable with a working navigation menu.
It does a great job at displaying a CSS-less version of our site.
@fribbledom There are times I just have to get away from the https://sdf.org/?join out https://sdf.org/?join. #SDF provides a lot of free resources that I find enjoyable, entertaining and ad-free. You can run down a #gopher hole, peruse #bbs among many other things. It’s digital detox for modern day #internet users 😉.

In 1989, I could fit DOS, Windows, Wordstar, dBase III, and a bunch of other stuff onto the ST225 hard drive (20MB formatted; none of this "DoubleSpace" stuff) and still have room on the hard drive to save files.
Today, you're hard-pressed to be able to fit all of a single fancy-pants web page into 20MB, with all the calling out to third parties it does.
The creator of the Amfora gemini-browser is abandoning gemini.
In his farwell-to-gemini article he ( @makeworld ) lists both what feels are the "good" and the "bad" of gemini-protocol , gemtext , and (indirectly) about gopher , too.
