What’s up with the owls at the library? Four 12-foot-high barn owls with 3-foot-high heads grace the corners of the building's roof. They're augmented by 75-foot-wide and 40-foot-high swirls of leaves and seed pods. Those ornaments represent growth and wisdom.

I started painting a bowl of fruit, but I didn't like it. I tore everything apart and made a collage out of the scraps of paper. Now I like it. It looks like a mosaic.

Every year at the solstices, the sun aligns with the Chicago grid system (the way our streets are platted). The result is that the sun sets in the center of the urban canyons of the Loop. It’s called Chicagohenge.
