Got no cat so no Caturday, but gotta lotta #MarshMadness options, so here are a couple shots showing the local #Beaver works. They do not show the scale of the complex but it’s impressive. #GetOutside#Hiking
A weird one for my first #MarshMadness, a beaver pod tinted pink/red by Azolla mexicana, a water fern native to the western US and Mexico. It's usually green, except when it gets lots of direct sunlight. Taken in early March, 2015, after an extended sunny spell. #Botany#GetOutside
Critters have been bashful lately but still getting some OK looks. One bit in our usual route is quite mossy but hard to capture. #Hiking#GetOutside#Mosstodon
Yesterday I went on my first Northern Colorado Audubon birding field trip. Theme: Pawnee Grassland and Raptors. We spotted so many raptors! Several Northern Harriers, Merlins, Kestrels, (lifers for me), as well as Red-tailed Hawks and Bald Eagles. The grassland was gorgeous, and it was interesting to learn that many raptors have adapted to the area by perching on high power lines. #birding#birds#Colorado#getoutside
Happy Friday everyone, we’ve nearly made it through another week.
I’m out for a bimble on Dartmoor. There are a few ominous-looking clouds but also large patches of blue sky so 🤞. It’s windier than I was expecting though and I forgot to bring a hat so there will be some serious detangling to be done later.
#Beavers busy on the bay this morning, and for once the light was great. Probably the last pics to be taken with this tele, new one on the way. Bittersweet, as cheap as this one is, it’s given me some memorable critter images over the last 15 or so years. #Hiking#GetOutside
First blossoms of the season, Osoberry or Indian plum is the first wildflower to bloom in the Puget Sound region, maybe a bit early this year due to mild recent temps. Also found on our morning hike Oregon grape budding. I’m ready for spring. #GetOutside#Hiking
