If you're looking for desktop only, non-subscription publishing software, photo editor, and graphic design, I have used Affinity for a while now and like them a lot. They were recently bought out by someone else who may screw things up royally, but for now at least you can still get the one-time purchase desktop set. Considering the way online stuff is being enshittified, you might want to try this.

If the whole Windows Recall thing scares you and you are looking for options: For many people Linux just does the trick. @itsfoss it never has been better for #LinuxGaming . Yet there is still a long way to go, until the last developers see that #Linux is here to stay and can't be ignored anymore. Linux is the past, the present and the future. And just as Microsoft once said, Linux is CANCER ! It slowly but surly eats Microsofts former marketshare, especially on the #dEsktop. ( on servers , appliances and embedded there is no more competition ;] ) Linux FTW , all the way! #OpenSource OR BUST!
I’ve always liked #GUI, both #desktop-based and browser-based before you needed five years of training on the latter. That’s the reason I loved, and still love #Vaadin: you can develop web UIs without writing a single line of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. I’m still interested in the subject.
