#AI #GenerativeAI #Smartphones #Google #MagicEraser #PhotoEditing: "Google’s latest Pixel phones, the ad wants you to know, come standard with a suite of new generative-AI photo-editing tools. With a few taps, you can move people around in the frame like the mom does with her son, or use the “Magic Eraser” to get rid of a pesky photobomber. “Best Take,” a feature that snaps a bunch of images at once and isolates each person’s face, allows you to merge photos so that everyone appears to be perfectly looking at the camera at the same time. Combined, these features mostly reflect the photographer’s intent at the time of capture. But is the end result … real?

Of course, there’s nothing particularly scandalous about editing a family photo. Anyone sufficiently trained in Photoshop has been able to do something similar for decades; likewise, smartphones and photo apps have long offered the ability to touch up a picture until it’s transformed, even “yassified.” Yet tools like Magic Editor will likely soon become standard across devices, making it dramatically easier to perfect our photos—and thus to gently rewrite small details from our lives."

I'm kinda unsure if I should keep using since I'm sorta familiar with it, or move over to and learn that so I've tried both major FOSS alternatives. Anyone got some good advice?

For my SCPs, I really love making the images for them. Here's some of the images I made for a few of them.

First is the very dangerous pasta noodle for 4378.
Second is the EYES from 4205
Third is sluice gate from 4485
Fourth is the buddha elevator from 4801

The first, third, and forth one all use public domain photos that I heavily edited. 4205 is fully my doing, though :]

For some reason iOS Photos doesn’t yet have the retouch tool that the Mac has. Anyone know of a simple editor app that has it? Hoping for something that works as an editing extension to the Photos app. Will pay, but not a subscription.

Maybe I could write this up into a blog post, but in going through old archived posts from birdsite, I came across a thread about a photo I was proud of. So I thought I would share it here where it won’t get lost as easily!

I am really happy with how this photo turned out! While the Pinebook Pro is indeed running elementary OS and it looks exactly like this, this photo was taken by Dani before we got the builds working. So the screen is faked. 🙈

I'd like everyone's opinion on a photo, I took it with my S22 Ultra in astrophotography mode. Then I ran it through some editing software recommended by a fellow Mastodon traveler, ask me if interested.

I'm curious which is better and is it ok to edit photos to bring out full potential? Most say for astrophotography you need to, to remove light wash, but I'd like everyone's thoughts.

First is original, second is same shot cleaned up.

The same shot of the night sky over Arnold, Missouri ran through editing software.
