The new #CaptureOne update is so underwhelming. I can't understanding their strategy, it's like they are trying to place themselves back into the "professional” spot when the reality is that this distinction is less and less relevant today, they wasted resources to introduce some features that are marginally relevant, instead of actually improving the software, and keep their attitude of alienating their own customers in the process. Overall I'm pretty content with #MacOS. Have moved to it from #Windows 2 years ago now. But one thing I really dislike is with every big MacOS update (the yearly releases) is that there's always the possibility that some software stops working and requires an update. With all the Windows 10 updates I've run over the years I don't recall running into this issue.
For example #CaptureOne 22 won't run on #Sonoma and requires me to buy an upgrade. I wonder if #Apple is at fault here or the vendor.
#CaptureOne dropped their “AI” masking update. I don’t use masking that much, I do like to occasionally dodge and burn manually if at all, but sometimes is nice to separate background and foreground subjects for contrast and interest. This new masking seems substantially less clever than Lightroom’s and I’m not sure how much is model based, it feels to me to follow localized contrast and colors more than subject detection. Overall is okeyish, but nothing worth the admission price. #photography
AI masking (which is to say subject selection) is coming to Capture One, a top alternative to Adobe Lightroom for image editing. This is a super useful technology — one of the best visible uses of AI in my photography life. #photography#AI#CaptureOne
