To those who say "capitalism doesn't force people to do anything. They have free will", if someone put a gun to the head of someone, would that not be a use of force? And how would you feel if the gunman said "I'm not forcing you to do anything. You have the freewill not to give me your money." But if you don't then you'll die, just like the worker will die if they don't do what the capitalist says.

I don't think I have ever lived, nor seen any true #democracy existing, for my entire life(almost 50 yrs) - anywhere in the world. I've seen many people fight for democracy - despite never truly having opportunities to live it.

I'm interested in building different types of mutual beneficial #communities, not controlled by #capitalist driven government. I'm interested in bringing back more fair, #CitizensLed, #bartering systems. I loathe colonial monetary systems because they fuel #injustices.

Property and Contract in #Economics: The Case for Economic Democracy by David Ellerman

This book makes 2 arguments.

  1. The employment contract is the core of the #capitalism rather than private property
  2. The employment contract is invalid because it violates #WorkersRights to #democracy in the firm. All firms should be structured as worker #coops for economic justice

Just an FYI: If you blame individuals (which are not #billionaires) on the #ClimateCrisis I will ask you to leave the #ClimateJustice instances. We don't do this here.

Don't get me wrong: It's good if individuals do "their part" in tackling the climate crisis, by changing their habits and lifestyles, but blaming them, when its clearly the #capitalist system's fault is just wrong.

Be #vegan, consume sustainably, ride your #bike, don't fly.
There are many good reasons to do so, e.g.:
👉 it's the right thing to do
👉 it's healthy
👉 you're a role-model for others
👉 if many people do this, it slightly changes how companies act.
👉 it fosters your awareness for the issues

But also be aware that its a droplet on a hot stone. Non-wealthy individuals won't fix the climate with their daily choices. We have to demand action by the big players.
And I don't mean blame China!
All of us need to demand radical climate action by our governments.

So please:
#protest
#strike
#unionize
#block
#sabotage peacefully

We can do this together! I know we can.

Hanlon's razor is the proposition that one should "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence." It's actually a Napoleon quote.

To which I'll add, LeftistLawyer's first corollary --

"Never ascribe to incompetence, that which is adequately explained by ."

Which, if you think about it, is really just a euphemism for malice. You have to be ok with the oblique suffering of others to be a good capitalist.

For example:

The Response.
The .
The .
The .
The .
The

So please stop scratching your heads in confusion about why so many things are so fucked up. We celebrate immiserating the poor and lionizing malicious greed in the capitalist world. Hanlon was the greatest elite enabler of all time.

That's why i want nothing to do with them. Given enough time, anyone with a gun will kill someone as a response to fear or anger.

#Argentina’s president-elect wants public companies in private hands, with media first to go

By DANIEL POLITI and DAVID BILLER
November 20, 2023

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — "Argentina’s right-wing president-elect gave the first indications Monday of how he plans to start shaking up South America’s second-largest economy: with a slew of privatizations.

"Populist #JavierMilei, a libertarian economist and self-described 'anarcho-#capitalist,' won a presidential runoff election on Sunday with 55.7% of the vote. He said Monday that he would move quickly to privatize the country’s state-owned #media outlets and look to do the same with other public companies.

"'Everything that can be in the hands of the private sector will be in the hands of the private sector,' Milei told Bueno Aires station Radio Mitre.

"Experts immediately questioned how far Milei would get in fulfilling that vision without the support of Argentina’s National Congress, where his party holds a relatively small share of seats. However, some analysts said his resounding election victory could give him leverage."

I just love it when #Activitypub is a walled garden. Who thought it was a good idea to only give the formatted HTML of each person's post? They contain internal links to the original instance, so they make a lot of sense if you want to lock someone in to the original instance, and draw others to it like flies to honey. There's no way to get the original text, and so I'm going to have to parse and undo things like <p><a href="https://pdx.social/tags/test" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag"><a class="mention hashtag" href="https://fedicy.us.to?t=<" rel="tag">#<</a>;span>test</span></a></p> if I don't want my instance linking to some other instance just for a hashtag.

This problem goes deep, in fact. HTML hyperlinks were always intended to be a #capitalist money trap. Ted Nelson's original Xanadu concept in the 60's would have you making a micropayment for every link you clicked, putting in an inherent incentive to trap you into clicking a given site's links, and make them moolah. The whole idea of a #URL is a location that someone owns, controls, and can charge #money for. A URI is the resource indicator for things other than that, but URLs were always about market control, by design.

There's a theme gaining momentum;

from to the ... and now 'going it less' (featured in a Guardian report on people looking for easier jobs).

For decades a minority rejected the central narrative of working hard for a better life, but this suspicion that is not a system with our benefit at its heart is becoming ever more evident.

Unless capitalists can reinvigorate the reward for work narrative & make it true, there may be trouble ahead!

Few would disagree in light of recent events that the #Trump regime, its most diehard #extreme-right, #white #supremacist supporters, and elements of the #Republican Party are bidding for a #fascist putsch. Just thought I'd call out this right-wing account I just came across that claims to be against the "cancer of Wokeism", whatever that's supposed to mean. It's concerning to see right-wing accounts targeting movements for social justice that advocate for marginalized groups and challenge systemic inequalities. These attacks reflect a broader attempt to silence dissent and maintain the status quo of exploitation. If you want to block this account and domain I wouldn't blame you.

is exploitation. There's no way you can have a system that doesn't exploit workers. Even if you try to make it more tolerable through policies and legislation, the inherent nature having to work for those who exclusively own the means of production in order to survive will always be exploitative.
