Too much is happening, and technology is just too involved with politics. Trying to avoid politics when developing tech is what has gotten us a lot of the problems on social media, so if you talk tech you have to talk politics too.
This is actually why I like #antennas, though. If I do want to rest from politics I can check a feed that is nothing but certain hashtags. I know people like having the hashtags in their feeds, but this way gives me some more focus. You can exclude keywords on the antennas, even.
To the people complaining that there aren't enough artists here: are you following any art hashtags? Actually, same question to people who say mastodon doesn't have enough of whatever! Just follow some hashtags! Trust me if you do soon enough your feed will be absolutely drowning in your interest unless it's super niche
And then you can follow people who pop up on there, and maybe even eventually unfollow the hashtag
@eniko I love how this whole conversation about the importance of #hashtags for using #mastodon is almost completely devoid of any hashtags, especially about #art, #photography etc.

I did a little #casemod to my #beeLink#ryzen#miniPC to add external #antennas so I can pick up my neighbor's #xfinitywifi#hotspot better and I think I did a pretty good job! The clearance for the m.2 slot is pretty tight, but other than that I think it turned out pretty good.
Now to see if I improved the #wifi reception or made it worse 🤞

I wish i can consume content from #calckey's #antennas on my home timeline like you would consume #hashtags you follow on #mastodon - bcos besides that, antennas is way better n more powerful.
#Calckey#antennas (think: groups of hashtags and search terms) are so good that I have created a number topical ones on my Calckey fun and games account to find relevant content to follow then on #Mastodon or #Friendica for more serious topics and conversations.
Been enjoying my day or so using #Calckey so far. I can do fun things like #search for text or create a #list that lets me add accounts while not requiring me to follow them, and thus having them included on my timeline. I have been wanting that for a while now to aggregate news sources without making my timeline useless.
I still need to mess around with #antennas, but this feature seems like a straight up win over the #hashtag following on #Mastodon.
I do miss using the @IceCubesApp app but pinning the site to my home screen does work pretty well and I still get notifications. Would love to see #IceCubes support this someday, if such a thing is feasible.
I'm excited about #calckey's "#antennas" which seem to be an enhancement of #Mastodon's "#filters". The cool part is you can use boolean logic in search terms, and you can also search for terms which works like Mastodon's hashtag subscriptions. #activityPub#fediverse
