Photographer Matej Mlakar: ‘Vršič Pass is a high mountain crossing across the Julian #Alps in north-western #Slovenia. It is the highest pass in Slovenia, as well as the highest in the eastern Julian Alps. One of those peaks is Prednje Robičje (1,941 metres or 6,368ft high), where this image was taken’
Pictures from last night's evening/sunset hike to a 400m tall waterfall at the end of the valley, celebrating several family events/milestones/anniversaries... Felt like we had the whole valley to ourselves (...and the birdies, and hares and bambies on the way)
You probably know the #photos already - but I added a bit of a text as well. Btw do you think it could be more text? I always fear that a lot of text isn't ready anyways and ppl probably prefer videos.
(I mean - I also like videos with good voice and no text.. why shouldn't you do as well)
Hey friends! We just came back from a great hike near #garmischpartenkirchen. We wanted to do this mountain recently but the snow in the upper part was too risky for us.
Today we went there again. Beautiful ascent, nice views. Some spray rain and a slippery, dirty descent. But at the end we even had some sun!
What all has water washed away?
Only the water knows —
Even in crises felt every day
the water simply flows:
While tyrants may rise
then crumble and fall
the water is wise
and washes tears away from us all
So this was quite the late afternoon/evening, so glad I repeated this tour... Took a slightly different route than last year, going up some super craggy canyon for a while (pushing/carrying the bike), but well worth it, especially once up and dipping in the 3rd lake (legs only) en route, snow patches still all around, but air temp in the mid-20s... Another reason this is one of my faves: the last 11km are just rolling downhill (~470 hm).
Some impressions attached (the last pic is of the Lech Falls near Füssen, tiny detour on the way back...)
Almost a year to the day, gonna repeat this tour again tomorrow evening... The bike's cleaned & prepped, the weather forecast looks splendid (22℃), the snowline should have sufficiently receded... Wish me luck (and strength 😅)!
Going far back into the past, this picture has been taken at the far end of Gschnitztal, a valley which is hiding between Stubaital and the Italian border #hiking#alps#austria#tyrol
