After 2 - 3 weeks of trying both @protonmail and @fastmail I have decided to fully switch to Proton going forward.
With Proton you get email, ProtonPass, Proton VPN and other stuff. You also get 500GB of storage instead of the measly little 100GB of storage that Fastmail offers. Notifications on Fastmail were also VERY VERY delayed most of the time, on both Android and iOS.
Wondering if I should switch from Mozilla's VPN to Proton's VPN.
Mozilla works flawlessly on Android and Linux desktop, but was a bit of a pain to configure on the CLI.
Anyone have strong feelings about #Proton and their #VPN?
(Not interested in any other providers, thanks. Yes, I understand the limits of what a VPN can do. No, I don't need to to work on Mac, Windows, or iOS. Yes, your joke reply is very funny. No, I don't want to run my own.)
I got a letter from my #isp on behalf of some porn company that I was #torrent ing #copyright content. I habe a seedbox for #linux ISOs and whenever I torrent on my PC i use a #vpn and i don't download illegal content. What do I do?
T-Mobile Home Internet is oddly faster with a VPN.
It's over a cellular network, which often has a slower download and faster upload. This implies the bottleneck is in the band (congested tower / network).
Generally speaking, switching to a VPN should make it worse, not better
Yet, the numbers don't lie. I will have great download speeds and normal upload, when using a VPN.
Changing the DNS with or without VPN, doesn't matter, it's always faster with the VPN.
I want to build / get a travel router / hardware VPN which connects to a network wirelessly or via RJ-45 and creates a new Wi-Fi (& maybe a wired connection to the new network) to which I can connect my devices and everything gets tunneled either through Mullvad or through my home network. Maybe it can even throw the traffic into Pi-hole before tunneling.
What hardware would I need? (As compact, as cheap-ish and as efficient as possible)
#Tailscale on #Android has begun acting weird, it acts as a full #VPN making accessing stuff outside my tailnet utterly impossible. Seems to be an update causing this but I haven't tried to downgrade. Any other ideas?
So, yeah, I'm still on #Windows. And I think I will stay. I unchecked any telemetry that I could. I use #Brave, with extensions. I use #Adguard#VPN I use #Signal with family. I do what I can for #privacy and #security
I must say that Windows as a desktop is full of little things that make life easier. I even like it more than MacOS. Linux is great, but I often felt that GNOME or any other desktop was holding with gaffer tape. No tomatoes please. 🍅😎
Federated wireguard network idea
Any feedback welcome.
Let's keep things stupidly simple and simply hash the domain name to get a unique IPv6 ULA prefix.
Then we would need a stupidly simple backend application to automatically fetch pubkeys and endpoints from DNS and make a request to add each others as peers.
Et voilà, you got a worldwide federated wireguard network resolving private ULA addresses. Sort of an internet on top of the internet .
The DNS entries with the public IPv4 / IPv6 addresses could even be delegated to other domains / endpoints which would act as reverse proxy (either routing or nesting tunnels) for further privacy.
Maybe my approach is too naïve and there are flaws I haven't considered, so don't be afraid to comment.

There's a #remote-exploitable issue and it's really a big problem - and it also applies to those that don't have any #RemoteAccess or #VPN configured.
@mullvadnet fail to connect to all Mullvad servers. Shutdown VPN internet turn active again. So there are some issues in your network. My device is unable to connect to any country. Not even one!
