QUEEN's BRIAN MAY Joins THE OFFSPRING For Performance At 'Starmus VII' Festival
QUEEN guitarist Brian May joined forces with THE OFFSPRING for a one-night-only performance at the Starmus VII festival in Bratislava, Slovakia. The unique collaboration was held on Day 3 (May 15) of Starmus VII at the Tipos Arena as part of the "Sonic Universe" concert following the Stephen Hawking...

Roger Highfield's Stephen Hawking: Genius at Work from DK Books, exploring his life through the objects in his study, from scientific papers to Monty Python memorabilia to photos from his cameoes in Star Trek and the Big Bang Theory.
"No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization. There is probably no heaven and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe and for that I am extremely grateful." #StephenHawking#quotes
Today's #LunchtimeReading was an advance peek at Roger Highfield's forthcoming Science Museum/ DK Books release Stephen Hawking: Genius at Work, diving into his life & work through the objects from his old study, from academic papers to Monty Python records. (Publishing mid-March)
Our very own @poconnor has written a new update to her newsletter!
All about the ESPKU including the best panel ever held*, and some details about brain injury. Not only that, but it closes on a final thought which-my word, I really needed that about now, so thank you Pauline!
You can read it here (and maybe subscribe, would you?)
I've a basic grasp of spacetime, Hawking's no boundary hypothesis, the Standard Model including the Higgs field, how fracturing symmetry after the big bang can give rise to different fundamental fields, particles and physical laws and the subtle but to me compelling argument against #AnthropicCosmology that lead #StephenHawking to develop his final theory which this book is closing on on.
He explains so much so clearly that things I've not understood for decades are making sense and I'm actually able to think about them. As well as marvel about the underlying nature and origins of our universe, using what we believe we understand about it, and wondering about what we don't.
All given life by explaining the evolution of theory and the people making advances in #cosmology & #physics
#TheoreticalPhysicist#StephenHawking had a #radiation theory named after him that dictated that all BlackHoles will eventually evaporate. This #theory extended to all large objects in the universe, like the remnants of stars, stating that they too will come to dissipate
It’s a mind boggling assembly of works and authors on this list. Aside from brilliant fiction like Tolkien and @neilhimself, the list includes names like #StephenHawking or #MartinLutherKingJr.
Truly, the list is an astonishing monument to willful ignorance, perfidy and malice.
TIL During an interview with Stephen Hawking, the camera operator yanked a cable causing an alarm and Hawking to slump forward. (www.biography.com)
Worried they had killed him, everyone rushed over to find Hawking giggling at his own joke. The alarm was from an office computer losing power.
