Filmé avec un camescope de 2010 qui dormait dans nos placards. Malheureusement l'enregistrement s'est coupé lorsqu'on a voulu redresser le cadre. On fera mieux la prochaine fois :) Ca donne déjà une idée de l'excitation et de l'ambiance lors de la totalité.
Having never photographed a #SolarEclipse I had no idea what I was doing and rolled with it in the moment. I’m pretty happy with the final product, it turned out better than I expected! Definitely a wild experience 🌑☀️
Reprocessed with a focus on the prominences. Happy with the result here although I want to redo it again to see if I can get better detail on the corona. 🔭🧪
Many used historical climate data to plan where to watch #SolarEclipse2024, since reservations would be gone months before #weather forecasts were in range. That's why so many went to Texas. Actual weather turned out backwards from expectations, better northeast. #astronomy
I heard from some people, and apparently this was a widespread problem, that their AirB&B reservations were cancelled by the hosts and re-listed for over $1000/night on other services. Some didn't find any new accommodations in the path of totality. #SolarEclipse2024#astronomy

One more #space related landmark as last stop before leaving Texas on my #SolarEclipse2024 trip... I made my second visit to the Sierra Madera impact crater. It's 8mi/13km across. If you look up the Wikipedia page, it has a picture from my first time there. #astronomy#geology
Continuing to visit #space related landmarks on the way home from #SolarEclipse2024, I saw the US🇺🇸 National Science Foundation's Very Large Array (VLA)🔭 in Socorro County, New Mexico. 27 radio antennas use interferometry to act like a big dish the width of the array. #astronomy
Arizona's Meteor Crater, also known as Barringer Crater, was the final planned #space related landmark on my #SolarEclipse2024 trip. It was the world's first scientifically confirmed impact site, instrumental in developing the science for later ones. #astronomy#geology
#SolarEclipse2024 from our balloon-borne 360deg camera at an altitude of 17km/55,000ft over Texas. A first, as far as we know! 20x normal speed, with orientation switched through 180deg at midpoint to show shadow moving away.
The balloon was being pushed along the eclipse track by near-100mph winds, so the camera is swinging and spinning quite rapidly making it very challenging to stabilise the image. Lens flare and frost patches from earlier passage through cloud are seen.
Did you use a colander to see or take pics of the eclipse? I know we laugh at it, but I seriously enjoy seeing others’ colander pics. In such a divided time, at least we all have colanders in common! The next eclipse in the U.S. is going to be in 2044 with 3 northern states plus Canada being able to view the totality. August 12th 2045 will be the next big one for the U.S. From Cali to Florida. #SolarEclipse2024
