This endorsement page for author John Silvester's book 'Naked City: True Stories of Crimes, Cock-Ups, Crooks & Cops' had me in stitches. Puff quotes/blurbs whatever you like to call them - sometimes being a bit quirky can have extra impact. Blogging on that topic for authors here
Expanded the sonnet collection I've been working on to 100 pieces. Not sure whether to price it at $5 or $10, will probably go for the former so people actually read it, I don't expect to make money on it anyway.
Would love to find some beta readers if anyone here is interested in that sort of thing.

23. Who do you publish through or aim to publish with? How's it going?
I have used IngramSpark for two books now. It's been fairly easy to use, and customer service has been fairly responsive the few times I have called upon them.
My books are listed many places with one click. The only places I haven't seen them have been Apple and Google. I've acquired readers around the world.
Some bad news for me this morning: Draft2Digital have just confirmed to me that their Creative Commons policy will remain the same following the merger with Smashwords: banned.
Side note: it would have been nice if Smashwords had told me this. I asked them back in Feb 2022 when the merger was announced, and their response was "we haven't discussed this yet". (No reply to later follow-up email.) It would also be nice if those with decision-making power in the publishing industry had learned the difference between Creative Commons and PLR.
This means that I am now looking for other options for the two (soon to be three) fantasy novels and one humorous nonfiction compilation that are currently being vended through Smashwords and their distribution network.
Fortunately, I can do the formatting myself. Know of any CC-friendly online vendors? Reliable ecommerce plugins? I'd particularly like to make sure the books are still accessible to libraries.
Finally got a collection of 50 sonnets (+1 bonus "joke" sonnet) put together and edited to my satisfaction. I'm looking forward to this being my first #SelfPublishing experience, as there's no way in hell a publisher will take a sonnet cycle in 2024.
Next step is cover art...really tempted to try doing it myself.
None of these people exist, but you can buy their books on Amazon anyway. Here's an article on Amazon authors with GAN-generated faces and the books these authors publish (which appear to be almost entirely devoid of original human-created content).
Writers! Where/how did you find & hire your editors (for any kind of editing)? Or if you're looking for one, where/how are you searching? And what's your genre? I'm curious about how your real experiences line up with how editors talk about marketing and visibility. Thanks 💖
#lesen#buchbubble#Frage
I’ve asked this before but didn’t get any actionable responses, does anyone in the broader #lawfedi land have a nonfiction book agent they recommend? Law and policy, FWIW.
Introductions would be appreciated but I understand that’s a big ask. Thank you in advance! DMs open.
@andrew You can shorten it to a month if you work hard at it. (But many agents take up to three months or more to even respond (If they respond at all)) It is the serious nibbles that are gratifying. Makes you realize that you actually have a book worth publishing. Try some queries while you work on final edits and layout in prep for self publishing. #bookstodon#selfpublishing
