ATTN: Mail Admins!
The SORBS #DNSBL is shutting down immediately.
Smells like Proofpoint cutting costs.
Michelle Sullivan has said that she’ll be looking for a new gig after 6/30.
Sad, as SORBS was one of the best semi-automated DNSBLs out there for catching #spam from places where it was coming right now. A bit harsh for absolute usage, but very useful as a strong thumb on the scale. #Sysadminnery#InfoSec#email
Oh wow. I think we now have an AT&T that's nicer to sysadmins!
AT&T has long been one of the networks I've dreaded running afoul of when sending email newsletters. For years they've been opaque about their process for getting a false positive IP address de-listed from their block list. "Can neither confirm nor deny" is their MO in how they handle this. It has taken me over a month to get a false positive cleared before.
Most networks have a form you fill out, a list of things you have to fulfill to get automatically restored, and some automatically reinstate you with a delay if you even contact them.
I had some email delivery issues with Gmail and needed to make some DNS changes to make Gmail happy, which instantly landed me in AT&T hell. I was expecting a month of neglect. Instead, they replied back within a few days to let me know that my request will be carried out shortly.
The next cloud service I'm leaving will be most likely #linkedin.
Besides their horrible UX, it doesn't work in my Firefox any more. Can't send any messages. Can't close message dialoge popups. 🤷
Since it annoys with lots of #spam and did not provide me any benefit at all so far (not a single job opportunity for months! even when I enabled all job search features), it will be an easy good bye for me.
@bitwarden
Soo... I have recived some notifications of support tickets from you, for an email address of mine that is not connected to a Bitwarden account.
Should I be worried?
I just recently abandoned by Lemmy.ml account and also I've stopped doom scrolling #instagram.
I'm one of those "meme friends", you know, someone who does the #doomscrolling for you, and I just stopped one day and released an IG story saying "do your own damned doomscrolling".
This is because Instagram is now filled up with #bots and #contentfarms. For every 30-40 of useless garbage and mindrot, I got maybe 1-2 good videos/reels.
The internet, including social media, is filling with #spam.
“Before the term ‘spam’ entered general use it wasn’t necessarily clear to everyone that unwanted marketing messages were a bad way to behave. I’m hoping ‘slop’ has the same impact – it can make it clear to people that generating and publishing unreviewed AI-generated content is bad behaviour.”
Something tells me #Telegram aren't dealing with their telegraph #spam problem. Most spam i'm receiving lately contains these #telegraph links. I don't even know if there's a way to report them.
@gerrymcgovern I deleted 79,125 'promotional' emails from my Gmail account yesterday.
Didn't think I really needed them.
Didn't think they were useful.
Why do I get so many of these completely useless messages?
Why is so much time and energy expended on these hopeless things that most people completely ignore?
And why should we keep storing them, year after year?
WTF is that Slice Design account starting with @ 50324bd8b7d39b3123a9e5e4ca02eff5c35a5df9fba52af965edbd3ad58a96a1@mostr.pub that wants to follow me ?! #spam
