"Republican Gov. Greg Abbott... pardoning Daniel Perry, the former Army sergeant convicted in the fatal #shooting of a protester during a #BlackLivesMatter march...
a REAL genocide is being perpetrated
and people are talking about radical student protests?
are we perhaps secretly reveling in this livestream of cruelty?
is this the actual hallmark of our so-called Western “higher culture”?
Virginia GOP banning fiction novels about slavery because they’re allegedly traumatic to white kids but renaming their schools to Confederate terrorists despite their documented trauma on Black kids, aren't protecting children or education, they're protecting white supremacy.
@QasimRashid
America was built on slavery. With slave labor and rich resources with a thin population, the country prospered very quickly in the early years.
Those who profited from slavery and their descendants are very much the social and political oligarchs today. They have incidentally congregated in the Republican party with Trump.
People who rap the benefit, the majority population won't speak the truth.
Thinking about how little outrcry there was when #Noem demonized #NativeAmerican nations to such an extent that she is literally banned from setting foot on their territories, and how much there was when she killed animals. I’ve got nothing against animals (and don’t even eat them), but how can her #Racism get a pass? Thoughts about this? Care about this? Join me as a sustaining donor to #Lakotalaw
Remembering the ethnic cleansing, massacres and Zionist terrorism that lead to the creation of #Israel which remains to this day a pariah state and a plague on the Middle East and the world.
"for decades, American schools have been re-segregating... around 4 out of 10 Black and Hispanic students attend schools where almost every one of their classmates is another student of color.
"'If you have the tools taken away from you ... by the Supreme Court, then you really don’t have a whole lot of tools,' said Stephan Blanford, a former Seattle Public Schools board member."

After 75 years of failure, one would imagine that a people would learn what works and what doesn’t, both from their own experience, as well as the experience of others.
#GlennLoury's new memoir will be published tomorrow! I've been waiting years, listening to him recount anecdotes as he's worked on the book. Quite the life he's led, going from the South Side of Chicago to youngest member of the Harvard Economics Department, offered a position in the Reagan Administration and author of a book opposing mass incarceration...
Heather Cox Richardson comments on how Republicans exploit the cowboy myth to attack the notion of strong federal governance. As she says,
"The cowboy myth originated during the Reconstruction era as a response to the idea that a government that defended Black rights was 'socialist' and that the tax dollars required to pay bureaucrats and army officers would break hardworking white men."
It's not really about food. It's about the time the Trader Joe's scallion pancakes made me cry and have an identity crisis, but not for the reasons you think.
Complementary and Disparate: Conceptualising Female and Male Genital Cutting in Northern Tanzania
Mary-Anne Victoria Decatur, PhD dissertation, U of London 2023.
Yes, I do read your dissertations!
"It is the normal, functioning cells of all foreskins that are deemed dangerous. And yet it is specifically Black male bodies that are being constructed as promiscuous sources of infection in need of medical intervention."

The change comes 4 years after the schools had removed the names during the national racial reckoning sparked by #GeorgeFloyd’s killing.

Private donations will fund the implementation of the name change, according to the school board’s meeting agenda.
