Bunbury council plays 'Hot Potato' 24/7 to deter homeless people from sheltering in an empty outdoor stage.
Bunbury is having an unprecedented housing crisis, like the rest of the state, and this is the council's reaction. They did this before a few years back and got in trouble. We are about to go into a deadly hot summer, and they're pulling this shit.
Housless people are your neighbours. Look after your neighbours. Contact Bunbury Council to express your outrage over the treatment of their vulnerable residents. https://www.bunbury.wa.gov.au/contact
Interesting that Subiaco in Perth came number 1 in this national survey of liveable LGAs. I know it well; I've long thought it's the perfect match of walkability and amenity, with lovely old houses built up to the street.

Who knew that I lived in such a dangerous place? 🤣
FYI when I moved to #Perth in 1999 there was a serial killer murdering women and I was a tad worried about it being a freshie on her first overseas jaunt ☠️😬
Ps: Adelaide was so quiet and provincial maybe that's why serial killers liked it there 😆
Fears that #Israel or international partners could pressure #Egypt into accepting millions of #Palestinians settling in the #Sinai have abounded for decades in #Cairo: #HosniMubarak strenuously denied reports in 2017 that he had cut a deal with #MargaretThatcher in 1983 to resettle Palestinians exiled in Lebanon in the peninsula, adding that #BenjaminNetanyahu, had also proposed the idea in 2010.
This is Australia, you can imagine what's it like in Indonesia & Malaysia.
Up to 10,000 people are expected to march through the #Sydney CBD on Saturday afternoon after police green-lit the event, and many more are set to attend events in #Perth, #Hobart and #Brisbane as more information emerges from conflict-stricken #Gaza. #Israel
"The frequency of hailstorms has increased by about 40% around Sydney and Perth over the last four decades, while hail activity has decreased across much of the rest of the country, new research has found."
We're heading to Mills Park in Beckenham this morning to map-all-the-things. And drink coffee. And maybe talk about PTA data importing. And generally explore the world with GPS, camera, and notebook in hand. https://geogeeks.org/2023/1008_osm-beckenham.html
Affecting nearly every service - #Trains still running were terminated early at 9pm. Tomorrow morning will consist of assessing the damage done to tracks to see what routes can be reopened.
#Perth - #Inverness route is unlikely to run at all tomorrow with #Scotrail announcing that all replacement options will be extremely limited - (when is it no?)
Since the founding of Perth, Lake Monger (Galup) has been a literal garbage dump, a toxic algae death pool, and had its water cycle inverted by intensive development. And yet today it has too many Wood Ducklings and endangered turtles bravely marching across lawns to lay eggs. Conservation works! Don’t be conned into thinking you can’t change things! 🌳
Almost hidden, yet in the heart of Perth, the Greyfriars Burial Ground is home to one of the best collections of post-Reformation gravestones anywhere in Scotland. It was established in 1580 on the site of a Franciscan friary. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/perth/greyfriars/index.html
I lived in #Perth for a year. And one of my fondest memories of Perth were the ravens. Those suckers were the size of chickens, I swear. They would perch on top of dumpsters or trees and stare at you with those beady little eyes, as if they were plotting your murder, and then they let out this long kaaaaaAAAWWWAAAH????
As if they are asking, "wtf you doin' here mate?"
Good times. 😆

Oh yes, great birds... Until you have one for 3+ months bashing on your window, all day, everyday with the look of a crazy bird. Never have a seen such unity on the floor as to the hatred of that bird!
(Who now has been called Greg. They had a friend/wife/therapist Raven hang out on the wall but they seem to have given up on poor Greg too. There definitely seemed to be a "He's not with me and I do not know him," vibe going on)
