My latest Patreon reward arrived and while the artwork on it is one of my favorites from the artist I think it'll turn a few normie-heads if I wear it in public ^^’
On #indie#music#Twitter, you can easily get boosted by its algorithm if you spam "I need new music" even if you don't actually need it, but it tricks a lot of indie artists who want to get heard into thinking you do. So they drop their links and Twitter boosts it.
Rather than starting a #Mastodon vs. #BlueSky war, is there any way to build a bridge between #ActivityPub and #ATProtocol? If both are open standards with roughly comparable functionality, I wouldn’t have thought this should be too difficult, with some limitations. Thoughts? #noxp

As usual history has erased the truth. It was #JoanMastodon, not #JohnMastodon. She is the one who de-extincted the giant woolly beasts of the great plains using DNA culled from a single tooth! Joan rode upon the back of the greatest tooter of them all to San Francisco, where a herd of ancient Pleistocene mammals defeated the Bad Car Man! Long live Joan! Long live Mastadonity! #noxp
OK, I guess it's time for an #introduction post. These all seem to be a bit verbose, but I'll probably abuse the privilege XD
Hi! I'm an overwhelmed single mom of a fantastic, weird, and wonderful daughter. That takes up a lot of my headspace. But, of course, that's not the identity I want to wear on a T-shirt, because that's not fair to either her or me. :-)
I'm a culturally-American, legally-German software developer, currently living in Switzerland. (Yeah, I know, that's a mouthful.) Don't ask me where I'm from, I don't know! XD
I was largely in academia for my mid 20s until about six years ago, doing security-related research, mostly in #PrivacyEnhancingTechnologies, and honestly still miss it a lot.
Some people here will know me for the work I did after that, however, for a (maybe?) free software communications privacy project, which I left after five years because the internal tyranny and chaos was just too much. But that's over now.
I'm now a software engineer for a Very Big Company (TM), still doing #InfoSec, and I'm surprisingly happy with the work.
That's not the identity I want to put on my T-shirt either ;-)
The not-work, not-parent me is a gamer (#DragonAge!), former linguist, and writer (fantasy and romance). I care about #LGBTQIA+ issues (I'm cishet, but that doesn't make it matter less), #ClimateChange, #inequality, #ADHD, #autism, and other people in general.
