Thinking of moving instances cus I feel like ... unfortunately froggie.town almost never produce any #search results. Any #neurodivergent, #queer, #sex-positive related/welcoming, #misskey instances that produce search results that include #mastodon posts?
I hope Mastodon offers premium hosting in the future, which could appeal to large corporate clients & politicians as well (not to mention it would help bring in additional funds).
I believe it would be cool if some of the third-party developers were able to help out with the project. Also, I hope they include an in app payment feature to make it easier for donations or even for premium features (buying a T-shirt or hat with your Misskey handle on it would be cool).
While the above examples can be used for images, Pixelfed was built for, well, images. It was made to cater for uploading photos ah sharing your digital artworks.
Meanwhile, Bookwyrm is best for, can you guess it? #Books! It features bookshelves where you can categorise your collection. You can also track your reading. Leave reviews. #Authors can too, if they want.
It's no different to comparing the old #Twitter vs #Facebook vs #Instagram vs #Goodreads. All of it can host photos and albums, but Instagram is focused on sharing images. Twitter for #microblogging. Facebook for socialising (or ads). Goodreads for books and reviews.
The difference? The latter are disconnected. While the former, the fediverse, are interoperable.
I just enabled my public posts to be searched after @mastohost updated my #Mastodon instance to 4.2! 🕺🏾 🎉
I would rather people search for my posts within the #Fediverse than from #Google (who is already indexing all public posts from everywhere). #Misskey has had this feature for a while now & it is useful.
This will also make it easier for people to transition from #Threads to other #ActivityPub platforms, as discoverability via search is helpful.

"It's complicated and people don't interact", they say.
"It's scattered and you'll never get good engagement on your posts", they say.

Ich schreibe einen Artikel über den #FediverseFachtag und in dem Rahmen natürlich auch über das #Fediverse . Zielgruppe sind Leute, die wahrscheinlich zum Großteil noch gar nix vom Fediverse gehört haben.
Dazu bin ich dabei, eine Tabelle zu erstellen, in der einige Fedi-Dienste sowie deren Haupt-/ besondere Funktionen aufgeführt werden sollen.
Das ist der derzeitige Entwurf:

Ein Vergleich mit kommerziellen Plattformen ist natürlich immer nur zum Teil passend. Ich kenne auch keinen der kommerziellen Dienste aus eigener Erfahrung, aber für die avisierte Zielgruppe kann so ein Vergleich vielleicht trotzdem eine hilfreiche Orientierung sein. Vielleicht gibt es da aber auch Vergleiche, die passender sind. Einige Dienste (bspw. Medium, Podigee) kannte ich auch noch nicht mal vom Namen her, sondern habe das nur aus ähnlichen Vergleichstabellen übernommen.
Zu den "besonderen Funktionen":
Insbesondere Friendica, Firefish und v.a. Hubzilla haben so viele Funktionen, dass diese im Rahmen der Tabelle nur exemplarisch aufgeführt werden können und die Auswahl ist subjektiv. Hier wäre die Frage, ob das eine passende Auswahl ist, ob besonders wichtige fehlen oder ob andere Funktionen wichtiger oder besonderer sind.

In italia stanno tutti fissati con mastodon ma si tratta di un software per il #fediverso con alcune limitazioni.
Prima fra tutte, il limite dei caratteri disponibili, impedisce dialoghi approfonditi.
Su mastodon non si possono mandare reazioni diverse da una stellina ⭐ , qui invece abbiamo centinaia di emoji.
Anche qui abbiamo le liste e i preferiti, in più abbiamo i canali, che sono simili ai thread di un forum, simili a quelli di #Lemmy e #Kbin.
Con le Clip possiamo raggruppare Note a piacere, come Help Desk che raccoglie le nostre F.A.Q.
Abbiamo gallerie fotografiche, ma soprattutto, le Antenne, che meglio delle ricerche "hashtag" permettono di creare timeline con regole personalizzate (non solo hashtag)
Misskey Social ha le caratteristiche migliori che gli altri software del fediverso non hanno!

Thought to visually show how Federation works without leaving Misskey.
First of all from my experiments and looking at random information on fediverse I learned that everything runs on RSS.
So you can easily grab RSS from Users on Fediverse or in this case Kbin is more akin forum so you will grab forum posts.

You can add RSS widget and enter this link to show you last posts. Picture 2 shows you how it looks like for average Kbin user UI .
From Settings>Navigational bar you can add Lookup to be on sidebar and not in More! tab.
Fediverse is still developing so not all links from any Instance can load but it only matter of time.
So look at other Instances copy>links to posts> input them in Lookup and comment on things you want to comment :mastodon: other :misskey: Kbin, Lemmy, Hubzilla, Pixelfield anything listed in https://fedidb.org/ can be interacted, just not everything will load due bugs or Misskey not federating with instance. You can see in https://misskey.io/about > Federation tab.
Second you can quote messages from other instances so others can interact with note directly.

Anyone on Kbin can become Magazine owner and make Moderators for Magazine. But Kbin.social is Main Kbin Instance and owned by developer of Kbin @ernest while Misskey.io is owned by developer of Misskey @AureoleArk .
I was 10 years Reddit user, 10 years I didn't mind what Reddit done, but after 3rd party applications being robbed by insane prices... I left and started exploring Fediverse. I think many who were on Twitter agree that corporate greed gone too far. So thank you for your hard work while we were blissfully unaware of all the greed that would consume platforms we enjoy to use. Having Misskey for fun interactions, Kbin for Forum discussions, Mastodon for more important news distribution and other federation servers/services that exist or may to come. Tech Press don’t understand the #Fediverse, so how can they understand its growth?
To hear them talk, most of them believe that #Mastodon and the Fediverse are one and the the same. Some of them go so far as to call the Fediverse the “Mastodon network”.
Which means that they don’t have a clue about what the Fediverse entails, nor how it has grown.
Case in point: between Jan-May 2023, #Misskey and its forks grew by 300,000 accounts. No one in the Tech Press reported this.
Okay, perhaps they didn’t know because the bulk of growth happened in Japan. But still, this is fairly important to know since Misskey is now responsible for generating the bulk of Fediverse content. Even so, Tech Press think the Fediverse is about Mastodon.
And now, #Lemmy and #Kbin are experiencing lots of growth, with both collectively gaining 100,000 users in a week. This is quite a noteworthy event since the #RedditMigration is part and parcel of dissension on #Reddit – a pretty major Big Social platform.
Does the Tech Media report on this? Nope. But again, that’s because they don’t understand the Fediverse nor what it entails.
Then Meta signal that a new project they’re making, #P92 (a.k.a., #Barcelona), will be joining the Fediverse. There’s even screenshots that show this app interacting with remote Fediverse servers.
But instead of reporting about how this will affect the existing Fediverse, press such as the #BBC say this is an altogether different social network than Mastodon.
That’s right! Tech Press don’t even realize P92 will be joining the Fediverse – a social network that already exists!
Is this all ridiculous? Yes.
But this is why we have to be forthright about what the Fediverse is, what it entails, and why it all matters.
The operators of Misskey.io, the largest #Misskey server is incorporating as a business to raise revenue as it struggles to keep up with the surge from #Twitter after the name change to X.
