A powerful reminder to those of us who do not have #dementia to continue seeing and focusing on the whole person, to support #disabilities while respecting and embracing abilities.
Following the success and momentum of his anthology How to Love the World (93,000 copies in print), James Crews's new collection, The Path to Kindness, offers more than 100 deeply felt and relatable poems from a diverse range of voices including well-known writers Julia Alvarez, Marie Howe, Ellen Bass, Naomi Shihab Nye, Alberto Ríos, Ross Gay, and Ada Limón, as well as new and emerging voices.
Sending big cheers to a rockSTAR classmate from our Malden Senior Center strength class. We miss your laughter and energy, but know you're recovering like a champ!

A set of guiding principles I personally use in my day-to-day life. This document may grow in time, but for now, these are the 22 most important "rules" I follow.
Feel free to read and share, if you are so inclined! Perhaps it could be useful to others?
🤩 Huge thanks to one of my rockSTAR strength class members at the Senior Center for this incredible custom t-shirt with my fav motto ‘Practice makes progress’!
📣So cheers to every effort, every laugh, and never taking ourselves or our workouts too seriously!😅
Can we stop telling people with depression that god doesn't give them anything they can't handle? That idea suggests your deity is a bully and that there's something wrong with the millions of people who give up because they couldn't handle all the things.
If you care about your friend's depression, just be there for them. They don't need advice. They need a friendly ear, a smile, or to just be left alone. ❤
Nukit has open sourced a DIY air purifier frame that can be made with a laser cutter. Quie, like other similar PC fan array designs. I tested it with MERV-13 and Arctic P14 fans: Dust/Bioaerosol CADR of ~290 CFM, Smoke CADR of ~210 CFM, and draws just 8 watts https://github.com/opennukit/Nukit-Open-Air-Purifier/
It always feels good to help other people during a really crappy time. Even if it’s just a simple, tiny, random act of kindness. #kindnessmatters#kindness
🕊️ Tom's legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. May his memory continue to inspire and guide the Malden Teen Enrichment Center and the entire community.
In a world full of many dark corners, it’s inspiring to know that some people are willing to be kind just because.
My holiday season was pretty dark. I drank a lot and felt really depressed. Like many others, I’m sure. I posted that some folks need kind words during the holidays (https://mas.to/@markwyner/111616147194669734). Someone who didn’t know me, @shaknais, saw my post and made a note to include me in a holiday post. This meant more than they may have realized at the time.
I hope everyone got through New Year safely and has settled into 2024 with ease.
Remember, 2024 is the year of kindness. Practice it until it becomes a habit.
🕊️This thank you card isn't just for me, it's for everyone who chooses kindness: a shared beacon of hope for the New Year from the Malden Warming Center.
Caring for our community takes a collective efforts 🤝🏽
Here, alongside dedicated volunteers at the Malden Warming Center, we offer much more than just shelter during harsh winter months. We offer hope, connection, and a reminder that they are not alone☕️
🎯At the heart of our service lies recognizing the unique dignity in each guest.
#TBT Deadlift king, mentor, friend – all rolled into one!
📸 2007 photo is with Archie B., a Boston weightlifting pioneer. Beneath his unassuming exterior lay a record-breaking athlete with a chest full of championship titles. I met him at the YMCA in the early 2000s, where his gentle guidance would lead me far beyond the iron.
He taught me to lift both weights and spirits, leaving a lasting impact on my life. 💪🏾
