We Have Always Lived in the Castle. This is my first Shirley Jackson book, I know, I know, I'm late to the party. I really enjoyed how atmospheric this book was. The delusion and strangeness of the characters really leapt off the pages. @bookstodon#books#bookstodon#horror#horrorfam https://youtu.be/5Sm747MSn9I
I'm not sure how you take well-written, previously existing material for a compelling prequel, cast a bunch of really talented people, and still wind up with a milquetoast, totally forgettable movie- but somebody did, so I guess... Good job. It wasn't even BAD- just utterly unremarkable.
Also, the lack of Maine accents (in general, but for JUDD CRANDALL, of all people) was irritating.
BH makes 12 movies a year. Each costs $5 million or less.
50% are expected to lose $350K.
25% break even.
15% make a little money.
10% of them are break out hits (like M3gan) that pay for all the losses and return a huge profit.
The end result is domination of the #Horror genre and happy fans. #HorrorFam
HOW TO MAKE $$ IN HORROR:
Five Nights at Freddy's. Blumhouse sold the streaming rights and made back its entire budget before the film was even released.
HOW NOT TO MAKE $$ IN HORROR:
Exorcist: Believer, the first film in an ambitious planned horror trilogy, is being read last rites by critics after Universal shelled out $400 million for the rights alone.
Happy Saturday. Beware the Squonk. (If anyone who sees this currently lives, or has lived, in Pennsylvania: is this really a thing? Inquiring minds dearly want to know.)
Hey all my #supernatural and #occult homies and #horrorFam. I am looking for book recs of general knowledge re: #ghosts and #hauntings. Something that lists a lot of cases, along the lines of something like "50 haunted places" and stuff of that type.
Any recommendations? I need to start research for a series of podcasts.

Watching my favorite animated version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
I'm a sucker for Bing's voice. I remember watching this as a kid and my favorite part was when ichabod sees Katrina for the first time while he's on a picnic with another lady. He puts the roasted chicken on his head and begins to eat his hat. 😂
