My custom made #wallpaper for my #pixel6a I've made this wallpaper capturing the #jurassicpark vibe. It's the image from the PC screen in the movie. I am using the #lawnchair launcher and used #gimp to edit and arrange the screen. The icons used are #arcticonsblack by @donno I'm totally happy with this. @GIMP

This is my first attempt at creating a stacked moon image. The moon was a bit low, so there is a lot of "wobbling" in the images, making perfect registration of craters difficult. After some quick research and trial and error, I settled for the following workflow:
Batch processing of 14 individual RAW files with RawTherapee to JPEG
Manual cropping around moon for each image in GIMP
Nonrigid registration of all photos onto first image in Fiji via bUnwrapJ
Second nonrigid registration via Align Layers from G'MIC in GIMP
Stacking of all 14 images into one image via Blend [Average All] from G'MIC in GIMP
Sharpen via Sharpen [Gold-Meinel] from G'MIC in GIMP
I decided I needed to finish converting my best photos from this year into desktop wallpaper. Which turned into an odyssey of trying to port my #GIMP wallpaper script to the new API for the upcoming GIMP 3.0 release candidate. I eventually got it working (after much struggle), and just finished converting images. Here are a few of my new desktop backgrounds.
I'm satisfied of the images I've been able to capture in 2023 despite multiple extended periods of cloud cover. This is a montage of most of those images, in no particular order.
I spent 2 weeks making a #3D scene in #Blender as a gift for my mother for #Christmas. It's my first substantial 3D scene, while I've made some simple, static geometry before I've never made an entire scene whole cloth and never rigged a model before. I did all the textures from scratch as well using a combination of #MaterialMaker, #Krita, and #Gimp. There's plenty I'd like to improve but I'm incredibly proud of what I managed to do and learn with this.
Here's a perfect example of what's wrong with Ubuntu's crusade to move software into snaps: if you install #GIMP from snapstore, you don't have an easy practical way to install G'MIC into it (a plugin that basically makes GIMP still worthy of running). Why not? Because, as the maintainer of the snap says1 there's no way he's going to be the arbiter of what to include. [cont…]

Just a quick drawing I did yesterday and decided it needed moar cyber, so I edited it a bit in GIMP.
