It feels to me as though far too many of us just reject truths that have the potential of any impending disaster.
We didn’t want to believe the facts of COVID transmission and just stopped masking & limiting activities.
We don’t want to consider what #climatecatastophe will actually be like in all its horror, which is directly related to mega-corporations & Republicans in power.
We are ignoring the FACT of Trump’s fascism & what his Project 25 will mean to our daily lives.
We act as though there is a viable choice in November, when there’s only one sane act: re-electing Pres. Biden. We’ve perfected denial and it’s going to kill us in so many ways.

I’m posting 66.6% fewer memes these days (almost all of which are designed to persuade EVERYONE to get involved in working to #GOTV), and engaging 75% less in doomscrolling re Republicans and #ClimateCrisis.
I’ve been doing this stuff online (political activism) since 2018. I think everyone who will get the message has already gotten the message, and I’m not sure anyone needs to hear my opinion on anything. Neither am I sure my efforts make any difference at all. This is certainly true about the impending climate catastrophe as it is global in scope and not solvable by individuals. I’m also fairly hopeful Fucko will go down in a blaze of defeat in November.
I hope you were serious in your request. If not, I apologize for my naive & gullible literalism.
This may sound corny and I don’t really care of it does, but I'm constantly impressed by how the people running things in this administration are actually committed to making the country better.
This will protect important public lands from both development and the damaging effects of climate change.
If you like this sort of real conservation, and you should, a second Trump presidency will quickly undo it.

I do think what Johnson is doing now is specifically designed to prevent the discharge petition from getting enough #votes, having recessed the House most of the year.
By bringing up #Ukraine, he is giving members of #Congress an excuse not to sign the discharge petition, that also includes #border#security.
For the last six months, all of Johnson's ploys have had the same logic. Make a promise, create some hope, generate excuses for European and executive branch inaction, weaken Ukraine, advance Russian #genocide.
Press coverage dwells now on hope rather than recalling that Johnson's entire record thus far as Speaker involves dishonest gambits to prevent #Ukraine funding.

The only people I know IRL who aren’t screaming with outrage are Republicans. ALL the accounts I see on Fedi are outraged. All the women we hear from on TV/cable are outraged. That Pres. Biden’s campaign can raise $26 million in one night, as well as having a massive war chest already in place, indicates to me that Americans (at least blue Americans) ARE outraged & actively opposing Trump. Dems are winning special elections & flipping seats. MSNBC couldn’t be more virulently anti-Trump.
I think where we get the impression of apathy is from MSM, which has a vested interest in profitable Trump tax breaks.

I’m beginning to think the cultural chasm between Americans is NOT between super-rich/average-poor, left/right, atheist/religious, conservative/progressive, power holders/ordinary citizens.
More & more evidence shows the gap to be between those who break with absolute impunity every damn law & moral value they come across - and the rest of us who “do the right thing” 99.9% of the time because it IS the right thing, who pay taxes legitimately owed, who struggle to satisfy our debts, do our jobs, care for those dependent on us, and actually care about others’ welfare.
The differentiation seems to come down to shitty people and non-shitty people, no matter what other factors are in play.
