‘There is a great irony in attempts by this self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist” – to shut down honest debate and fair, research-backed criticism with legal threats.’
So, quite a lot going on in Denmark and Sweden these days, with a geopolitical crisis looming, following right wing activists' burning of the #Quran on several occasions previous weeks.
Now, DK Govt. is seeking legal ways to limit burning of religious texts. "#FreedomOfSpeech being limited", people object.
Which, sure, it is.
But it's already illegal here to burn flags and national symbols of foreign states already. So how's this different? Genuinely curious.
And another person tries to convince me Greenwald and Taibbi are not to be trusted, I say they have been vocal on these issues of censorship for years, and they block me.
Maybe that's not the best evidence I'm wrong that people are putting politics above addressing the issue of closing down discourse, but who knows...
Censorship and moderation arent even slightly related. If I say you can't have liberal views on my website/business/back yard - that isn't censorship, its me utilising agency.
The only reason Twitter /YT/Facebook shouldn't be allowed to censor ideas is because they act as public squares. If blogger /rumble/locals wanted to moderate opinions they have every right to. And I will avoid them if they do, like how I avoid Twitter/YT/fb
The reason Sweden allows Quran burning despite international anger.
Recent public desecrations of the Quran by a handful of anti-Islam activists in Sweden have sparked an angry reaction in Muslim such as Iraq, Iran and Lebanon, but the country has no law against blasphemy, and protections for freedom of speech.

@sarahc There used to be a saying: A conspiracy theorist can present 10 ill-witted schemes in the same time it takes a fact-checker to debunk 1 of them.
With AI, the same actor can now create 10 synthetic journalists, publishing fact-checks per each of their schemes.
As a result, the human fact-checker is now not at a mere 1/10, but 1/100 disadvantage.
We need certification of human produced content.

@marius851000@lnkr_ There are ten RIPE Atlas probes in Georgia and not one of them exhibit this behaviour https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/53364837/#probes The "censored" names are fine for all.
RIPE Atlas probes' DNS resolvers may not be typical resolvers so more information is needed (output from dig, names/ASn of providers, etc).
Also, it may have been a temporary network glitch? Or, of course, a test for censorship.
