@plants second #plant for #FensterFreitag Ornithogalum pyrenaicum has rarely if at all flowered for me in past, this is its third time this year! A #bulb plant it is sometimes included in Cactus and Succulent collections, it's also and #EdibleHouseplant (in this climate- probably not quite hardy, but I have not tested), but I haven't had enough material to test- prob should have a bigger pot and cushier growing conditions! #Alberta#FlowersOnFriday#BloomScrolling#florespondence
Nearing the end of its life as a blooming sunflower, this sunflower blossom is wilted and drooping.
But its life is not over...not yet!
All those seeds will become a tasty and much needed natural food source for birds and small forest animals to get them through the harshness of a winter.

This week saw days of 10-25C, nights 0 to 10C, some rainy days. The coming week is forecast for low 20sC, nights 2-7C- sounds like typical fall weather! Sunny days should be good for farmers with crops to harvest.
This week is #autumn#blues (okay, you know I grew up calling these purple, now I might say lavender or violet!) but we're still in the #pink too! #bloomscrolling#florespondence
"I wonder about tulips…how they somehow find a way
To grace us with their beauty before they slowly fade away.
If only people were more like tulips and could somehow find a way
To grace this world with beauty before they slowly fade away."
For years I've tried to grow asters, specifically fancy asters. This year I gave up, bought some more common aster seeds, and broadcasted them into my wildflower patch, thinking it'd be a miracle if these came up when my carefully seeded fancy kinds had not.
Lo and behold, my flower patch is full of asters right now.

Every spring, this oak tree and azalea-lined drive explodes with spring color. Azaleas bloom but once a year here in Florida but boy, when they do they put on a show. This wasn’t full bloom yet but worth photographing anyway.
