Got this Unidisk drive a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I couldn't insert a floppy disk, so I opened it, did a full maintenance and changed the infamous shitty gear that broke as soon as I touched it.
My first Apple II demo, Latecomer, loads through ProDOS so it works seamlessly on Unidisk!
I also tried low level access. It's far easier than legacy drives because the firmware takes "high-level" calls 💕
The issue is that you can't really do advanced tricks because all the read and write logic happens on the drive's 6502. But you can upload code on it and even overwrite the firmware.
I don't know if that's really something interesting since very few Apple II owners have Unidisks 😅

I completely forgot I uploaded VistaPro 3.20 (the scenery renderer) to the Internet Archive, where you can run it from your browser. For those sudden urges of wanting to create some landscapes.
This is a bit of a stretch, but does anybody have experience implementing frustum polygon clipping, in software, in a very resource-constrained environment? I've some questions I'd love to ask.
My current approach seems to be unviable, it's taking up more of my frame time than rasterisation!

I've just watched the #Amiga demo HAMazing by Desire and I want to say a few words about it. The first ones are: it's insane what hardware that's almost 40 years old could do. It blew my mind as a kid and rightly so.

At the #x2024#commodore64#demoscene gathering, Thomas Jansson (Tubesockor) and I did a little presentation about SidFactory 2 with support for hardware #SID based synths like the #TherapSID. By interfacing SID synths with SF2 and the excellent #DeepSID web player, you can play, edit and live remix SID music on real SID chips using your own laptop.
