Very pleased to learn of the existence of a genre called #BonkWave & after a quick survey it's clear that a zen beginner mind approach is called for, i.e. refusing to do any research whatsoever into the term & its origins - just accept bonkwave into your heart and keep it rolling
This version is still based on the original MIDI file, but is more of an #Electro beat with a bunch of added live-tweaked stuff, including a fairly restrained TD-3 bassline.
It's another #BandcampFriday and tbh times are tough, so support is hugely appreciated. This is the latest full-length from my project Fugue State, which @yoniden described as "A beautiful collection of dark cosmic synthesizer music."
And if you're feeling the squeeze too, please feel free to check out my #Faircamp link in the next post, where everything is pay-what-you-can.
Today we have a shameless plug for #BonkKnobRecords and our brand new #Faircamp site, where you can grab all previous releases including the equally brand new #BonkWaveAllstars single for nowt!
With all that saved money you could consider making an independent artist happy by supporting them, buying one of their releases, or if you're strapped for cash, praising or sharing their work.💕
Apparently it's a Electronic Cottage Compilation, a
collection of 26 tracks from artists all over the
globe using only instruments and sound makers
of any kind that fit into one's pocket.
#BonkWave usually, but not exclusively involves an instrument or device too big to fit in a standard pocket. Now, those big marsupial pockets...maybe. :blobcatthink:
It's a fediverse musician/artist community masquerading as a musical genre. The whole running joke is about genre police & if something is #BonkWave or #NotBonkWave.
It started out as electronic musicians, but people who play instruments are joining in on the fun, too.
Of course BonkWave has been around since people started hitting things with sticks, but here on the #Fediverse the term gained popularity before my time and was first coined by @yoniden, with @officialflear possibly releasing the first track on the interwebs.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong with my #BonkWaveLore!
And another artist who had their big break through their beautiful #BonkWave offerings, this was none other than Socool with the dreamy Drum&Bassy Shadows from the album ephemera!
This #BandcampFriday, I finally remembered to do the checkout of a massive #Bandcamp cart that had been piling up over several months. Listening through things now, dropping some recommendations along the way: 👇
Although even more was in my #Bandcamp cart, I'm concluding this with the Not What I Call #BonkWave relases, featuring various fediverse artists. A series of (mostly) electronic music pointing in a lot of directions.
A thing that struck me while going through this: So much of the music was by fedi people. I didn't intentionally go for that. But I find it quite cool! So many talented people here. Also outside music.
