I made my Bonkwave track tonight using similar methods as I did on my last release. I tried things out and as it sounded good I moved on to the next bit. I didn’t stop to get caught up in the details. This let me create several parts that I could move between. Once I had an idea of something I liked for the intro I was ready to perform it and record. The result is one take of a stream of consciousness of sorts.
I just submitted my track for consideration to the next #Bonkwave compilation. I don't normally like to leave things to the last minute, but with a sick kiddo at home it takes some creativity to make the time for working on creative projects.
In some ways it made the track what it is since I didn't have a ton of time to work on it and had to wait until later in the evening.
But, I did stick with the approach I was talking about before and opened an empty project on my SP404 mk2 and only used samples that were on the SD card.
Overall, it was fun and I think it is in a style that I would like to try out again. I should keep the project for sure.
@meljoann@yonder@axwax@freebliss@jaypeach53@SrRochardBunson see this is how #BonkWave got started.. you'll just end up with genre wars! Best let artists tag their own work however they want, just as bandcamp does. If they tag something obscure they won't get found but that's their choice, right? I'm sure people will disagree with half the genres I've tagged my tracks as over the years.
In Two days it is #BandCampFriday that wonderful day when #BandCamp waive their fee on transactions, (meaning more for the artist), making it the best day to support #Musicians and #Artists
If you have a release on BandCamp, (maybe something from a friend or perhaps a recommendation?), please post it in this thread/as reply.
If you have not stumbled down the #BonkWave rabbit hole, I invite you to trip with me.
This is a collaborative compilation project born on #Mastodon
of #Music that is or is not Bonk Wave.
I suggest you pop zero in the pay-field to cop this. (Perhaps if you want to support a particular artist, go to their bandcamp and get something nice.)
Born on mastodon, this project features artists from various indie and underground music communities, coming together to collectively thumb their nose at the #GenrePolice
It is 14 tracks of wonderful eclectic #ElectronicMusic for everybody
Just under 3 hours left of #BandcampFriday (shoutout to all the people who muted either me or this hashtag today, LOL)!
Have you peeped the first ever volume of Not What I Call Bonk Wave? It's a compilation album of electronic music which may or may not be #BonkWave. My amateur experience in the Ways of Bonk leads me to believe that this album is actually teeming with bonk. There is so much Bonk in this Wave!
