Cruel Provocations, half-fey hunters protecting a rural utopia from the mechanised war-machines of the towns, including the terrifying new walkers, each armed with a six-barrelled canon capable of terrifying carnage.
In celebration of #Pride#PrideMonth, you'll find the central relationship is FF, and there's a badass female revenge plotline.
I feel on edge. Maybe it’s the obscene amount of caffeine I’ve consumed. I’ve just got to finish making the dinner, then after we’ve eaten I’ll probably continue reading The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout, which I am very much enjoying #AmReading#bookstodon
As I noted right here in this feed, this past Saturday was Towel Day. That inspired me to check out The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy from the library to re-read it for the first time since 2000. It still holds up! What a delightful classic.
Also worth noting: Douglas Adams basically described an e-reader device almost 30 years before Kindle came on the market.
I’ve been paying closer attention to when books were written. Pre-2016 (trump)? Pre-2020 (covid)? Different vibes for sure but I can’t quite put my finger on how to describe it yet. #amreading@bookstodon
Did you ever read a book or two in a long series and they were enjoyable so you’re hooked into the storyline and care about the characters.
But then, the stories get really irritating - this strange need for authors to torture their main characters over and over again is very troubling.
So I finished this series as a spite read. Fortunately the books were short. Compared to a lot of the books I usually read.
No I’m not naming authors. @bookstodon#amreading
Just finished reading my first spy novel in ages. Felt like one and oh my goodness it was great! Gave it 4,5 stars as the story is a bit slow in certain parts ( that's in part a pro too in others )
The book is called A Spy Alone by Charles Beaumont and I highly recommend it.
It’s been a couple of years since I last read the Merchant Princes series by @cstross, which I revisit every so often - I’ve just finished re-reading The Bloodline Feud, which I loved and would highly recommend if you want a different take on parallel worlds, industrial development, culture clash and much, much more. I’m straight onto the next book now! #amreading#bookstodon
#WhatchaReading ? #AmReading Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh which is very intriguing so far. Lots and lots of undercurrents, clueless main character.
Weekend reading! I'm about to start A Radical Act of Free Magic by HG Parry & I can't wait. Her first book in this duology, A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians, was absolutely superb, so I have high hopes! #weekendreading#amreading#bookstodon#books
