Auroras is the theme for this week, so here is another of the Cascade mountains. Mount Hood which is located it Oregon and one of the Cascade volcanoes.
Now is a great time to remind everyone venturing into the #backcountry in #Colorado that until July, it is functionally still winter at altitude. It often freezes at night, and can be very cold and wet for days on end. Carry clothing layers, dry backups, and gear to survive wet nights below freezing. Expect deep, wet snow in the woods, making route finding difficult, and travel frankly exhausting and slow. Weather can go from T-shirts to needing a parka in minutes as storms hit the divide.

Tha said, we don't really winters anymore here (Germany, near Frankfurt/Main). This "winter" I had to clear snow on the pedestrian walk at my house on exactly 4 days. And never was the snow thicker than 2 cm.
So winter here is just somewhat cold, damp, no green trees, no birds singing, half melted snow mud --- so only depressing things without the fun ones: skiing, ice skating on natural seas, snow ball fights, actual un-damp air because of low temperature.

Leslie West plants his feet in one spot and commands the stage with concise lead guitar and thunderous vocals. Felix Pappalardi provides a mellower counterpoint as Corky Laing drums like the unsung powerhouse he was. Steve Knight looks almost bookish by contrast, but his keyboard lines fit right in. Mountain belongs up there with Cream, Free, Zeppelin and the other greats of that era.
Olstinden is a prominent 675 m high mountain in the south of the Lofoten Islands in Norway. We saw it from the car on the way to the next campsite, and I just had to stop and take a panoramic photo.
Anchorage Airport is at 123.6 inches of snow for the season. The record is 134.5 inches. Ten years since 1953 have had enough snow to set a new record.
