As a fan of big robots, I've wanted to get into Gundam for a long time now, but none of the series have really gripped me in a way that made me go "This. I love this".
Recently I watched Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury... and then immediately began rewatching it.
This is it. This is my show. You can't have it. Mine.
It's not perfect, and I would have liked a little more story outside of the school setting, but I love the characters, their stories, and it has some of the coolest mech fights I've ever seen animated.
@Gwendolyn Where can you watch it? I am also Gundam-curious. I should love it, as I am a mecha afficionado. But I've never watched any Gundam anything.
Dear lazyweb, I'm looking for a #mecha#anime that I saw once a few scenes of. What I remember is that it was one of those more "realistic" ones (tacticool) like Patlabor or Madox, not colorful, and that there were scenes of a Kabuki dancer with a mask, a mane of red hair, and a fan performing some sort of a summoning ritual. The dancer looked a lot like Senryo Kyoshiro from Samurai Showdown. Any ideas?

One of the great things of working with MagicaCSG is that every element is non-destructive, so I can adjust the shapes, creases, colors et cetera at any time.
We finally did the thing! I roped my siblings into playtesting a game of Lancer using Legos and a physical tabletop. The sitrep was to destroy five buildings, marked in red, because the Karrakins were using the installation to track their mobile hidden base. #mecha#lego#LancerRPG

A little not-strictly-Gundam gunpla as a palate cleanser after that slog (a fun slog! A slog nonetheless) of the Ver.Ka Zeta. When I was a young human, growing up in a place where stuff like anime was largely inaccessible, I had a mild obsession with Aura Battler Dunbine - one of my prize finds as a kiddo was a red plastic and die cast dunbine bug-mecha in the clearance section of the Toys-R-Us. So when I saw this critter on P Bandai all that came rushing back.
@rivetgeek Those die-cast Dougram mecha were great, heavy as heck and with cool little suspension parts. I still have what (without googling the real names) I'd have to call a Griffin and a Shadow Hawk 😓
@madu I know which ones those were. They may have been the only two, though I vaguely remember seeing the strider. I also had an Orguss I got from the Korean market — it was a big one too (10-12"). It's was a wild and wooly time because anime stuff was cropping up all over the place. There were also Revell "Robotech Defenders" model kits in the model section of the local Thrifty's.
Now that my #gundam models are closer to double digits than zero, I can’t just keep leaving them on my bookshelf. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do with them? I’m thinking some kind of shelf. Only problem is my apartment is very small, AND I share it.
Small but exciting (for me) update. I realized I'm not targetting subsystems nearly as often as I thought I would. So I'm experimenting with a radial menu that should make it much easier and more intuitive to shoot at parts.
It also makes it more intuitive to repair your own mech.
I... may have made height charts of most of my OCs so far. I tried to accommodate for the fact that the anthros will be sitting inside the canopies of the animal mechas #oc#ocart#mastoart#mech#mecha#fursona
Last night I finished my quarterly game of #TheMechaHack. It was so much fun! Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble not just getting a group but reaching quorum each session. For the final month I ran for two people, so I dropped a couple rules so that the game was easier to work with less pilot skills
We played 7 out of 12 sessions planned
Still this game is one I wholeheartedly recommend. It understands #Mecha as medium instead of forcing a genre on you. It's great ride
