The craze began with the moderately successful "pork, the other white meat" campaign of the early '80s. But lean pork is the smallest part of the pig and pork producers REALLY didn't like throwing away most of their product.

I hate to ask again, but I don't know what else to do. I have treatment resistant #depression with psychotic features and PTSD. And it's gotten to the point where I cannot function. The voices are telling me to kill myself, which I won't do. I need #cannabis. It's the only thing that does give me a high degree of function and sucessfully treats the depression. #mutualaid requested, I need $25 to go get some. I don't like asking for gifts this way. @angiebaby There are reasons that I say that there are very few actual leftists in the USA. One of the biggest of these reasons is the set of hierarchies in what passes for the "left" in America.

First it's the racial one: white > "Asian" > black > native. If, say, in feminism a white woman's issue comes up ("equal pay") at the same time as a native woman's issue ("not getting murdered by a pig farmer"), the white woman's issue is dealt with first.

I was today years old when I realised that the reason that the intro to every youtube video sounds like setting an ad break, is that it is setting up an ad break. I've had whatever they call the no-ads subscription to google for years, and hadn't realised how awful the default experience was. How do people stand it? Where are the pitchforks?

I really appreciate the language options in #CyberpunkRED. I chose Cree as my character’s secondary language. It hasn’t really mattered in the game, but it got me curious to learn more outside of the game.

I’ve been listening to a number of Indigenous music artists, and I found some cool videos from folks sharing insights from their language and culture.

I like how different elements from a #game or #ttrpg can encourage real-world exploration and education.

@EmpyClaw Well, to be fair I'd likely have recovered from how absolutely shitty both topics were taught in schools. I mean I loathed poetry after high school and university literature. (There is a special place in Hell reserved for people who destroy the joy of beautiful things in the world of the academe...) Within a decade of leaving school I started reading it for enjoyment.

You can recover.

It's just a tragedy that you have to. And RPGs jump-started the recovery for history.

@jemmesedi 🤷‍♀️ I'm a realist. I called Trump when most conventional wisdom said he was a clown who was going to make the Republicans lose in 2016. (Specifically when he survived the first round of "debates" in Republican circles I predicted with 90% certainty that he'd get the Republican candidacy and with about 80% certainty that if that happened he'd have the presidency.)

I was about 75% certain that Biden would win in 2020.

And now I'm about 90% certain that it's Trump 2024.

Memo to the media: Don't write about corporations suddenly lowering prices without mentioning how their profits have been skyrocketing or their tax bills have been shrinking. They could have kept prices lower all along. They chose note to. Give people the full picture.

I've shared similar snacks twice¹ before². This is the third in this family.

This is essentially the first of the snacks (linked below) made with stuffing finger peppers with a sesame-based paste and crisp-frying them to delightfully crunchy perfection. It's the less-spicy variety (unlike the second linked snack) but still plenty hot. And crisp-fried alongside them are two legumes: peanuts and broad beans. Being fried, seemingly, in the same oil, both have a lot of the imparted flavour of chili peppers, Sichuan peppercorns, and other spices (probably black pepper in there as well at least) inundating them.

These are a bit oilier than the other pair of snacks, however. Have tissues handy while eating them.
