"Why yes, we DO use an #AI to generate our #news#slug images how can you tell?"
If I were a pro in #graphicdesign I'd be really pissed about this shit. In fact I'm pissed about this shit. Its like "CMON, YOU'RE NOT EVEN TRYING... all you had to do was re-run the prompt and say This time without Musk in the middle of the table." Any designer I know could have done a much better job in about twenty minutes.
You know, I used to think, perhaps naively, that when you downloaded a mobile app and it asked for permission to access your contacts or your files that it was lazy programming. i.e. the API for contacts or your photos has a method in it that the developer needed, but you have to give permission for the whole API.
But now, I'm convinced that its because they're blatantly asking to steal our shit and we've been dumb enough to say "sure, why the fuck not".
@tezoatlipoca aggressive stances against the developers would help.
Business was very keenly aware that emotional output can be weaponized and used. High handed stoic expression and opinions are given artificial weight and personalities that express them are sought after as "better".
How many people deploy the lame duck of "I am not as technical as you are" as if to say being undereducated was lofty and wanted? It's garbage pure and simple.
Who becomes billionaires? It isn't lazy people and it certainly isn't self motivated people. Sure they happen but they are atypical.
We shun emotional output, we push back against very aggressive mentality "it's just business" and we treat people who become emotionally connected as if they are weak. They aren't.
If a company is aggressing you, aggress them back! You don't have to participate in their bullshit.
Tolerating unserious companies taking dangerous positions is how we got here and continuing to allowing them to thrive won't help us solve it.
So I have a bunch of #selfhosted services running at home. Now, my home #ISP is your typical large Canadian telco (aka assholes) and they are actively sabotaging my host-at home stuff. (i.e. I set it up, it works a few days, then it stops being reachable from outside, at work, rebooting doesn't fix etc.)
Can any recommend a reliable "just works" remoting solution (where the host is linux) where I can always remote in if the host has power and an outbound connection?? (paid is ok)
In particular WHY that particular method? need cross device/platform? 2 b available online? What (about this, or any method) are challenges to you? Do you struggle to organize your notes? What would you wish was better?
@tezoatlipoca Well, I maintain two boards. My work board, and a family board which I share with my wife and son (of all things, it's a meal plan haha).
Drag and Drop is a big plus for me.
I use it across MacOS, iPhone and iPad apps. I try to not use it in a browser.
Is it legitimate to write in a #manual for a piece of equipment (that improper use of could lead to damage, injury or death):
If you find yourself asking 'should I be doing this?' the answer will always be 'No'.
?
Seriously I'm running out of ways to say:
don't sit on it, swing from it, stand under it, hold onto it, put your genitals in it, lick it, fart around it, taunt it, make it watch Hayao Miyazaki movies (although it would like them), or feed it pie after dark.
One of the leaders of the Truck Idiot #Convoy is speaking right now, on the 2 yr anniversary of the Great Canadian Idiot Parade err I mean the invocation of the Emergencies Act in #Ottawa#Canada.
? you seem to want an apology. Who do you want it FROM?
? why today? why parliament hill?
Remember, remember the... sixteenth of Febrember
The Emergencies Action and Plot
wait, tanks? what?
What I didn't realize is just anyone can hold a presser in the parliament buildings. Who wants to crowdfund a presser in the HoC on "Why We Think The Convoy Is DUMB". Im good for $50. In Canadian Tire money.
CEO: we use <thing> right?
Me: yes?
C: well <thing> is now available for #Kubernetes
M: uh.. ok cool.. I guess?
C: we should use it
M: we... don't use Kubernetes?
C: well we should use that too; I hear <meaning: from my CEO bros at the 'club'> its the thing to use. Everyone is using it!
M: do you even know what it is? or anything how our product works?
C: all I know is that its useful for rapid deployment! We need moar rapid!
M: <le sigh>
We recently inherited (or rather, bought for cheap from his widow) my FIL's 2009 #minivan. It now has a steering fluid #leak. Unfortunately from the rack+pinion. Fortunately(?) only when turning left. The parts are available, but we'll have to save up the coin, its #heckaspensive.
So for now Ill continue to just top up the fluid every few days. And only turn right. I've mapped out routes to/from work and its doable only turning right. Itll be like I'm a FedEx/UPS driver.
@dannotdaniel Yep. The atrocious whine and growl when turning/accelerating when the fluid is low has no problems letting you know when to top up.
If the steering is out entirely then its your pump going bork. Or so I've learned. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Type SUBSCRIBE for more power steering facts.
lol. Ok who had "Metaverse is a dismal failure" in 24Q1?
The problem with any metaverse implementation is none of them are open. The server infrastructure is $spensive. The scripting and modelling and art resources are extensive. Open protocols and FOSS that shit and the metaverse (how Stephenson invisioned anyway) will happen. Remember? Hiro Protagonist and his friends programmed the Black Hole club and the bouncer bots. Map the existing VR world addresses into it.
Second Life was - as far as I've been paying attention - the only VR worldspace to even come close; at least they were friendly to modders and avatar modellers and scripters.
If Facebook had just setup shop in Second Life and breathed new $life into Linden Labs, I betcha we'd be cybering on the grid right now. But noo, Zuck wouldn't make as much monay that way.
Over the holidays VLGF and I looked at dismay at our local and #provincial#covid monitoring results (#wastewater, hospitalizations, new cases etc) and decided that when we went back in public, or to work, we'd be #masking.
My first day back on Tuesday I ran into the COO and CEO (med. size company) in the breakroom, me sporting my mask, and they asked why the mask Spruce?
After a pause* I said Heck, I don't know where any of you have been or who you've been licking over the holidays which got a laugh, but then I followed up with *No seriously; all the markers are trending upward again in fact they're approaching the bad times from the start of 2022. And, you know, cold and flue season. Remember 10 yrs ago with sars or bird flu N1 whatever and we put hand sanitizer in the bathrooms and conference rooms and *
The galling part is since I've been back in the office on Tuesday, I've been in over a dozen meetings with coworkers, eleven of which all of the participants are on fucking Zoom FROM THEIR OFFICES. Why the fuck couldn't I be at home in my pajamas for this? Fucking stupid.
The legend... passed down from generation to generation, of the one who can wrap holiday presents entirely and completely such that they are held together at the end with a single, solitary piece of tape.
