some books today, when in town I rarely skip ABC.nl .. @pluralistic "The Bezzle", and two "Ghost Dog"-inspired purchases (re-watched the Jim Jarmush movie last weekend), "Hagakure, the secret way of the Samurai" Yamamoto Tsunetomo translated by A. Bennett and "Rashomon and Seventeen Other Stories" Ryunosuke Akutagawa Translated by J. Rubin, with introduction by Murakami. Now that my commute is picking up again these will hopefully be excellent train ride reads..

Ordered my first dedication and signed copy of a Cory Doctorow @pluralistic hardcover ever. I ordered "Lost cause" as a gift to my rebel daughter against extinction to keep hope and for her to keep doing the things that give her hope. I can post this here 'cause she not on here.. #lostCause, hope it doesn't arrive to soon, as it would be burning a hole in the closet where it would be shelved until her birthday..

And did some #urbansketching today! First one with Amsterdam skyline, boat and water is made by splashing some #watercolour and then bringing in the details with #ink and #fountainpen , second one with fountain in Parc is on almost 100% cotton paper (cardboard like), starting out with #charcoal and then adding Caran d'ache neocolor II and some pencil..

Eventhough I already had the excellent drmfree #audioBook by @pluralistic from his kickstarter campaign, I could not resist getting the #paperback version of "Red team blues" by Cory Doctorow today.

Today's 15 minute #watercolour sketch, while waiting for abc.nl bookstore in Amsterdam to open. On the right there's a small statue, called "het lieverdje", which was the center of anti-smoke happenings in the sixties (the small statue was sponsored by a tabaco producer). "Lieverdje" can be translated as "lovely person", but is often used as the opposite, e.g. scoundrel..
The sketch was directly done in #watercolor first, then ink line-work with #fountainpen.

It is such a shame that phones age, and become obsolete, so much faster than laptops.

I am using a £190 laptop from 2017, and it works just fine - brilliantly, in fact - with Debian on it. Everything works, and the battery life is fine. I expect it to continue to work fine for quite a while to come.

I have a couple of Mac Minis from 2012, with upgraded RAM and SSDs. Great machines.

But a five year old phone, let alone an 11 year old phone?
